I have a few Roman coins with SC on them too. I could be wrong but if I had to guess they are Syrian minted and maybe 500AD

I would disagree. If this coin is authentic, it dates around the first century ad. Looks kind of like Augustus. However, I am suspicious. It just doesn't look right. I admit I am not an expert in this era, but I have never seen this type, and couple with its apparent thickness and unusual engraving I would be suspicious of it until proven otherwise.

Its fake. Too many signs as Medoraman already pointed out.

However, one thing I would check would be if its some kind of ancient counter. I think Ardatirion might be best suited to say if he believes this could be a copper tessera or something similar. If its authentic, that would be my guess, not an cient coin but something similar.

if they could fake a coin out and make it with all these things on it like the person and building then anyone could easily make a fake 1943 copper wheat back but thanks

Ma'am, we are pretty sure its not a coin. It may be ancient, which is why I said I hope a certain member has time to look at it and give you his opinion. But millions of fake ancient coins exist. They are made in the millions to sell to tourists, who do not know what an authentic ancient coin looks like.

There are lots of fakes in the world of ancient coins, and some of them are very convincing. This coin doesn't look ancient to me at all - it could be a tourist trinket, made in China for distribution at gift shops all over Europe and Asia Minor, wherever you find ruins.

But before we jump to conclusions, can we get a better pic of the obverse? There is some lettering there, and I'd like to see what it is. Also, we need the weight in grams and the diameter in millimeters.

its 20 ml long and goes for all sides, and its 3 ml thick and also the coin has some remains of dirt where it was cleaned and i remember i got this coin from a friend who metal detected for his first time and he just gave it to me

The coin is most assuredly not real. The style is so vastly divergent from the official issues that I would assume some bazaar merchant made it in his basement.

EDIT: It's trying to be a sestertius of Nero, for anyone who's curious.

Selena, it is not real. Trust me, I work for a major numismatic auction house that specializes in precisely this kind of coin. I see hundreds of coins each day, and many fakes of this quality.

I would rather not give a price for an authentic one. I suspect you would only try to list your fake coin for the price of a real one.

This thread got weird real fast.

I think it's a fake too. Looks wrong even to my untrained eyes.
