T There are proof Isabella quarters listed on coinfacts. My questions are 1. Is his even really a proof? 2. If it is really a proof why is he giving it away when he normally charges pcgs rates for third rate tpg coins?
It had something to do with an 1883-CC in an ANACS type I slab graded MS-64 in a non eBay auction site I was considering bidding on and wanted to know if this style holder had any sort of premium. It sold for $212.00. I did not bid on it.
Answers: 1. It is a proof as the appearance proves it. 2. No one pays PCGS catalog prices for this coin. They are often very much out of touch with the marketplace regarding certain issues. Lastly one may purchase the Isabella if interested. I'm offering a 14 day return period on this in case an expert appraisal is made in writing to me that it is not a proof.
Yeah okay. How many people here are interested and have $2000-$3500 to spend for a coin right now? Aha, I thought so. Nice try at putting me down Mercedes-Dumbs.
Since you know the market so well genius, these coins are selling on Ebay now for $75 and up. If I got it for $40, that's not half bad.
I'm not so sure about your definition of a "knowledgable numismatist". Does a knowledgable numismatist buy $20 coins for $40? Does a knowledgable numismatist respond to 12 year old questions? https://www.cointalk.com/threads/coin-show.11/page-2#post-1957642 Does a knowledgable numismatist promote segs over pcgs and ngc? I definitely don't want anything to do with that kind of knowledge
How about me? In the recent coin porn thread I posted 7 coins over $2k just on pages 7-8. 4 of them are the exact example coin that coinfacts uses as their example on their website. Feel free to look. Here is a taste https://www.cointalk.com/threads/post-your-coin-porn.249156/page-7
Got to admit those are quite some nice expensive coins. Based on the photographs it looks to me deep rainbow toned and major coin errors are your passion? My interests are all over the map: ones also with deep rainbow toning, low mintages, nature scenes, rounds, tokens, foreign, U.S., very high graded specimens and attractively worn down spooky low graded specimens in grades like Fair or Poor condition. I'm definitely not your typical coin collector. I am also a slab collector (no surprise is it?). I like to collect nicer coins in unusual defunct TPG holders also old style holders of companies still in operation.
There's quite a few of us here I bought this on ha just yesterday was around $2500 and nearly everyone here knows I'll buy $1k on up coins with regularity especially proof trade dollars as I'm trying to get all philly minted dates in proof
@Vegas Vic actually 40_mila_kokkina responded to a post dated July 25, 2014 by geekpryde in a thread that was started in 2002 and was bumped up to date inadvertently by him. @Vegas Vic it is knowledgeable not knowledgable. @40_mila_kokkina Your assumption of what CT members can or cannot afford to buy are unfounded. To ask that sort of question and to automatically assume no member of this forum can spend the kind of money you think they cannot right now is disrespectful. @40_mila_kokkina Proof 1982 George Washington commemorative halves are routinely selling for less than $20.00 eBay now, some for less than $10.00. Check the completed listings for the past month if you do not believe me. The picture of the one in your post is in a sample slab and that single coin may well have sold for what you claim but, that single coin is not a typical sale price.
Chew on this then, see Ebay lots #s 141365036255 & 321484551467. I don't just make up things to play mind games with people.
Although I think this is a really cool coin to purchase, has a great strike and detail, I believe this coin was worked on to remove black spots and possibly corrosion at the highest point extremities. Just my honest opinion. A number of my slabbed coins also exhibit this yet are number graded as well and not "details" coins. If you look at the photos dead on they just don't look right. A naturally circulated coin shouldn't look this way at the highest points.
I did not say you made those up. I said those two sales are abnormalities on where the actual market is for this coin. 99% of the people who would buy this coin will not pay more than $20.00 for it. You just are not man enough to admit you overpaid so you try to justify it by finding someone else who made the same mistake you did. There is not a single member of CT, including myself that at one time has not overpaid for a coin, whether intentionally or not.
Usually black spots and corrosion don't appear on the high point extremities my take on the lighter color is possible slide wear or Improper handling after it had toned dark or oils etc from human skin and being handled coated the coin causing less oxidation and air reaching the high points either way the coin does not appear doctored to me and these are the sellers less then perfect pics
I don't need to "try" to put you down, sir; you're already doing a fine job of that yourself, and if you don't think that anyone sees through this idiocy, you're also fooling yourself. This incessant spewing of nonsense and fluffing of swill reeks not only of desperation, but displays a total lack of character on your part. While you are, of course, more than entitled to like and/or collect whatever you see fit, your motivations here are beyond transparent. You've an ideal venue in ebay to peddle junk, play hotshot, and prey on fools gullible enough to be enticed by this chum, so why not leave well enough alone? Why do you feel the need to inject questionable claims and/or potentially harmful "opinions" into every other thread you participate in? Is the damage you may cause really worth a few extra dollars going into your pocket, and does the possibility of permanently burying someone in grossly overpriced junk make you feel like a big man? Perhaps it does and perhaps this is all you have, but if you've even one thread of self respect hiding in there somewhere, you should be ashamed. Ebay is what it is, but this place is different and there are those who come here to learn and/or avoid being taken advantage of, so if you cannot respect anyone else or even yourself, at least try to respect that. You, sir, could be the poster boy for what is wrong with this hobby today. Now please feel free to continue the moronic ridiculousness in response to my avatar. My apologies to Mr. Sims.
CAC worshipper Albanese is make money for a 10c plastic sticker. They don't open holders . Won't sticker anything but whatever they pick date and coin wise. In 10-20 will this 3party sticker company even matter? Anacs was the first nowadays it called second classed as a grader who really see coin outside plastic holder. What makes anyone think. CAC will last 10-20 more years fads do change. Things change Albanese could go bankruptcy or just be proven a waste money etc, future of any company written stone . Ask Anacs Icg
You make a valid argument however the area I made bold has not been my experience all of the time, only part of time.
You're calling my stuff junk before seeing it in your own hands. If anything you ought to be the one to look like the fool for your closed-mindedness, not me.
