I think 100K is cheap. I mean it was the first one sold at the ANA, and there can never be one before it.

In the article it says the buyer is long time great customer of coin vault. S that may explain things.

I'm not even going express my disbelief, there probably are people that would pay that price, especially since the buyer was a CV call in buyer. I don't like the idea that the buyer is not named, since no way to verify the sale is real.

Just a thought, is it truly the first one sold? What time was the purchase made? What time was the first purchase at a mint facility? What time was the first purchase online or on the phone?

It says so on the slab, and that's all that matters.

Wait. I am sure the very first gold Kennedy sold was at a mint retail site due to the lag in getting it organized to sell at ANA. That idiot just lost 98k plus IMHO.

First one sold was probably a presale on eBay. The slab makes no claim other than the ANA location. It's not the first one made, just sold. I would hope the first one made was gifted to the Kennedy family, in honor of him giving his life up while President. And that's not meant to be a political statement, just one out of respect.

I could think of a lot better things to spend 100g's on... Like several truckloads of turnips... Just sayin...

Nah, eBay doesn't count. Has to be sold to someone by the US Mint. Hmm, that's an idea, first one to the Kennedy's, haven't heard any publicity to that affect, but that would diminish the first one sold to me. So, I bet everyone's receipt has a date stamp and we should adjust for time zones.

I don't know about that. If someone can produce a receipt with an earlier time stamp, well hey, that's the first one sold. Not that I believe the first one sold should be worth more, but, that's the market.

I think I read somewhere that the West Point Mint keeps the first and last coin they strike for each run.

Found it. Last sentence of this article. http://mintnewsblog.com/2014/08/pro...nd-reverse-proof-silver-kennedy-half-dollars/

I think the 35th one sold should have been labeled. That would be a 200k coin

You're paying too much attention to the coin, and neglecting The Slab. Get your priorities straight, man!
