Gold Kennedy Half - Sold Out

No, not true.
Yet my question to you is how would you feel if the Gold Kennedy Half showed up as Sold Out on the Mint website this week.

I've already ordered the one I want for my collection, so I would be just fine with that. I would actually be glad about it since I know the mintage was 40K and not higher.

I would feel angry, then sad, then horny, then hungry. In that order.

 

If they said it would be minted to demand, and then said it was sold out with no more to be minted... well, I guess I'd be figuring that I couldn't trust anything they said, and ignoring any further announcements from the Mint on this topic.

 

First day sales were already over 56K.

 

I could literally care less if they minted a billion or one or put rubies in the eyes. It's a nonsense coin that will die off just like HOF.

 

That's perfectly reasonable. If I understand the way the Mint pitched this coin, it should be available for many months to come; no need to rush to buy now.

 

I'm curious to see next weeks sales report.
I think a lot of people that ordered this coin bought multiples - planning to make a quick profit -- and there may be significant number of coins canceled due to buyers remorse. I could be wrong on this, but I think it's possible that 16K could be canceled.

I'd like to see the 2nd day sales. Anyone have a link? Did they go over 75k? I see the mint is stating they will have 75k available shortly.

 

I don't know, but I did make an order for one this morning and status is:
1 unit backordered. Expected to ship on 08/05/2014.
They haven't updated expected ship dates

I have my orders all paid just waiting to sign when mail knocks for me to sign . This also limit can change with a stoke of a Pen rarely happens but could be done. If planchet can be had.

If you think it's possible that the mint will lower the limit or not make these to demand, you may be one of those that believes silver will hit $100/oz by December.

I don't buy to make money anymore 1 set is all I need.
If they have not got planchet mint will stop have they sold Out the max yet or is the mint out of planchet ?

If I know the Mint, they did not factor cancellations into these sales figures. I still wonder how many of the 54K were cancelled.

 

Reportedly, the Mint has 75K planchets.
So, I guess that tells us where this is headed.

 

Sales will drop off to none quickly, but the mint will leave it up through the end of the year. I don't see total sales reaching 75K.
