Silly...I will stick with ancients. Dont see the hype for a boring Kennedy, gold or otherwise. Wait and they will be selling at melt in no time as bkozak33 mentioned.
"JFK coin seekers mob Philly mint" LOL http://www.philly.com/philly/news/Philly_mint_mobbed_by_JFK_coin_seekers.html
How many of these "boom then bust" products does the Mint have to release before people figure this out?? Whole lotta hype and a whole lotta unscrupulous dealers...I will stay far away from this joke. I have no desire to line the pockets of these kind of flipper-dealers. Pathetic really...
Ebay buyers will pay nice commission for everyone in that line. TPG's should come up with a "bubble label"
I think they need to do away with selling these special releases at shows or at the mint locations. Just sell them off the mints' website.
I think it's a big marketing win for the Mint. Not that I like the coins, or would buy one, but any time you get people lining up like that to buy your product it's good for marketing.
I too am staying away from all the whoopla on these Gold Kennedy's and I don't live that far away from the ANA show. I do plan on buying the silver set though, on a lighter note my 5 uncirculated sets should arrive today.
I hope Lipton and Hendrickson lose their arses. I can just hear the pitch on tv "The First 4 produced" they're the best investment you can buy........................
These coins and other similar contrived rarities hold no special value to me. Their poulations will never drop, their average grades will always be ridiculously elevated, and their long term value will only be related to content. They are bullion, plain and simple. Sellers do not like it when I decline to offer on such coins, but they know full well why I don't.
These coins are probably not at all the first 4 produced, they are just the first 4 sold at the ANA. It would be very hard to keep tabs on the first coins being produced with all the stages of producing/packaging and then selling of these coins. I doubt that any of the mint personal would track the first say 25 coins being produced.
Absolutely crazy, take the money. I could see moon money if they were the first four minted from fresh dies. But come on! For a private party label? For a statement that these were the first four sold? The greedy that pay that kind of money will get what they deserve when there "investment" tanks.
OH Yea, I agree. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-W-Gold...23?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item41844c4673 $3387 ???
Not so sure. If they were a good deal, yeah. But, after a few make money on these, many will lose, so not so good for the hobby.
Watch what happens next, mintage limit exceeds 100,000. No real collector value, prices at melt value ! lol
The whole "little guy" = "worthy;" "dealer" = "unworthy" discussion has been done before and I believe it is also off-topic here. I am just happy I got my order in very easily today with no fuss and no muss over the Interwebs without standing in any line. And anyone else could have done the same.
