It's about time they actually gave their initial plan just a little bit of a thought. I still believe that they should not release these at coin shows but since they will also be available at other US Mint shops on the same day, I'll back off on my diatribes and whining!
I'll still push for a lottery draw if they continue to sell at the shows. Then there is no fighting to get into line by a certain time, etc, etc, etc.
I don't like that there is no mintage limit but this is no doubt a money maker if you can get it submitted to PCGS or NCG quick enough and get those beautiful 70s. I'm still gonna take a risk on my limit of 5, thought about doing 10 with a family member but IDK. I wish I weren't lazy and drive my butt up to Chicago to the show. I would love to get in on a couple of the show labels those things are always hot on the secondary market.
The only way this would help at all is if you did the lottery ahead of time (like days). I would hate driving or flying there, to leave it up to a lottery. If I am in line first, I should get it. I think people would be more outraged with lottery.
Yesterday, I received my five clad 50th anniversary Kennedy's from the mint. It is a nice offering from the mint. I went onto to ebay to check the price and they are selling for $20/each? Why would anyone pay $20 for something that is still selling for $9.95 from the mint? It must be the same folks that have saved nothing for retirement.
