Think I found a local dealer that I like

He's a young guy and seems to know his stuff pretty well. Small shop so not a lot of inventory, but he bought some silver from me last week for a fair price and today I bought a common 1878 Morgan in OK shape for $22 and a 2001 1/20 gold Panda for $85. His sell price for junk silver is good, too...if he actually had any in. He took some time today to try to show me the difference between "shiny" and "luster" (since I'm a newbie and having trouble getting that).

Sells fossils, geodes, a little bit of currency and a few ancients, too. The shop is Goldmine Coins and Relics in Gig Harbor, WA.

Its always nice to have a local dealer that will spend time with you. I don't really have that around me, but then again, I greatly prefer to buy online.

In person I fell that I don't have enough ammo at my fingertips to make a decision if the asking price is fair. Of course, online you have to deal with varying degrees of really bad / really good photos.

Having a good dealer near you that knows his stuff and is willing to share is a great asset . Make use of him and don't forget to spend a few bucks like you did , it's a good investment for the knowledge he has and shares .

The only local dealers 'round these parts are grumpy, rude, insolent ......you get the idea. I stick mostly to the online stuff.

Glad to make your acquaintance Ted.......:)

Is this comment in the right topic? I was just reading the trade 1 oz. for 1 oz. thread.

You know, your post did make me wonder if somehow I had implied that I was trading generic straight for ASEs... Pretty sure that didn't happen.
