Hey friends, since I can't find a decent answer I'm gonna ask y'all right here on one of my favorite coin forums. Here goes. 1. Are you gonna buy a gold Kennedy coin opening day or there abouts? 2. How many gold Kennedy coins are going to be minted? 3. Are you gonna skip all the hoopla and wait till the price of gold drops even more and buy a gold Kennedy coin on the secondary market later on sometime?
1. Will order from the Mint when I can get through, probably 2. 2. I think demand will be good, guss - amete over 100,000 3. Will think about buying a graded one, don't care for special labels one way or the other.
I might by two at the Chicago ANA Money Show. Two is the maximum allowed per person for the day. It's a one day event (August 5th) limited to a total of 500 pieces. This will be interesting because the selling price, time of day and even where in the convention hall they will be sold, will first be announced over the convention hall speakers just before they go on sale. They want no lines forming in advance. I can't wait to see the stampede this will cause. Lastly, I'm not sure of the mintage either.
Wow, 1 day? I assumed the mint was going to sell 500 a day for all 5 days, (2500 total)? If it's just a single day offering, I'm really glad I didn't buy that plane ticket.
I believe you are correct, it is a limit of 500 per day for all five days, total allotted for the ANA show is 2,500 coins.
1.Not a chance 2. The Mint won't tell you for several months so you can believe the coin you just bought is ultra rare. Then the Mint says they made about 2 billion of them. 3. I'd buy 1 for gold scrap that's all it is worth to me. I'm not a fan of kennedy's
I'll catch it on the news video. What on Earth are they thinking? "The enthusiasm around the HOF release was great, but what we really need to spur demand is actual serious injuries and fatalities?"
I reread the announcement and you are correct. 500 per day for 5 days. I didn't dwell on the article much and posted the information from memory. Obviously my memory wasn't to good. Go back and get your plane ticket! :>)
Like most other modern issues, there will be hype and massively overpriced early issues on Ebay and elsewhere. If I would make it to the ANA I would not be above getting the 2 coins, walking them over to NGC and getting the slab, and putting the money in my pocket. Short of that, I don't think I would even buy one for melt since I believe he is one of the worst Presidents in US history who nearly got us nuked over nothing and drew us into Vietnam. Its trajic what happened, I would never wish that on anyone, including politicians I disagree with, of course. My heart goes out to his family personally, but as a President I have no love for, and do not wish to own coins celebrating him as a President. If they made a coin celebrating him as a soldier I would consider it, as I respect him in that regard.
1. No 2. No idea 3. No. Just not interested really; one it's a coin commemorating another coin, which I just find silly. Two, there's nothing special about the design other than minting it in gold; it's really just the same design again.
No Well they are starting with 40,000 I have no idea how many more they will make, and I couldn't care less. No
1. Might order two online just in case I can't get any at the ANA show. 2. I think more like 75,000 will be minted 3. No. If I don't get them at the show and I get them by ordering online, I'll just keep one maybe to sell 10 yrs from now. If my wife and I score at the ANA show, they will go straight to NGC for the special label grading and up on eBay. I won't keep any of the special labels for myself and recycle the profits into my new bullion business I am working on. I might even do a couple sets of the clad and unc ones they will sell at the show and get the special labels on those too and throw those up on eBay and see if I can make a few bucks on those too. But let it be known, it's $100 each for the special label grading for the gold coins. I think the half dollars might be $75 each but not sure yet. Unfortunately, I do think the special label craze is here to stay for quite awhile. I would not be surprised to see the 4 coin set come out at the Baltimore show in late October so I might be there as well if that happens. Perfect excuse for the mint to cause more havoc at a show. Medoraman, if you go to Chicago, let me know. We will be there from the 2nd to 9th...damn, I might miss a couple days to suck up more gold Kennedys...and maybe we can meet up at the show.
I wish I could sir, but I doubt it. Too many large projects this summer. I will take a raincheck and try to be there next year though. I love meeting people from CT.
