Hello again everyone! I was digging through my dad's collection of coins and I found this coin pictured. It is a 1909 VDB penny from the "New York" Mint. I know of the Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, and Carson City (CC is no longer in use today) mints, but I've never heard of the New York Mint. I looked the mint up on the internet, but couldn't find anything on it. Has anyone else heard of this mint? If so, I would be interested to hear about it. The coin comes with a CoA (close-ups of coin, If better pictures are needed, I can get them)
The New York Mint is a privatized company and is not affiliated with the US Mint or the department of Treasury
The above comments about the New York Mint are correct. The closest we came to having a mint in New York was in 1851 when legislation was introduced to open a branch mint there. I believe it passed in the Senate but died in the House.
