I wouldn't spend a nickel over $175K for that coin...lol. At least you got to ogle the coin for 12 hours!

I'm sure you had the sale arranged prior to the purchase, but you must have had a knot in your stomach for a while hoping the deal didn't fall through.

I don't have to worry about packages, though I can relate to your post about....just....can't....stop!

I spent another $2K over the weekend. I posted two of the coins already. The other was another toned Morgan from the Binnion collection and a set of MS67 Steelies in NGC no-line fatty holders. Yikes!

For me, $4000. But the coins I last collected, even though they were many times more scarce than US coins, cost but a fraction of the price of even remotely scarce US coins.

The reason I say that is to kind of put things into perspective. A US coin as scarce as the one I paid $4000 for, would have likely cost $50 or $60k.

Was this one of those gold coins minted for a king's ransom (John II of France I think)?

$5500, and I'm still in debt. It was worth it though! :)

I have spent $300+ 3 times. One I unloaded for $275 when I grew unhappy with it. The other 2 will be with me for a long time. 2 were purchased with the funds from a $825 sale for a coin that I had $51 invested in and the other from a $310 sale of a banknote that I had zero invested in.

For my own collection the most I have spent is $250. But I have purchased coins with the intention of selling for $700-800 before.

Most I spent at one time at a coin auction was $8400 included my flowing hair dollar at $4600 a ms 64 red 1853 large cent and others I will likely break the $5k barrier later this year as a couple coins high on my want list will be more (clean g-vg chain 1796 small eagle quarter and more proof trades)

$360 for me but I'm a newbie collector. I bought a 1915 Half Eagle $5 gold coin at just a bit over melt. At that, I likely overpaid by that "bit", but I'll post it when it arrives. I like the design and want to be able to hold it, so decided not to buy a nicer slabbed example.

I haven't bought any hugely expensive coins yet but I've bought a ton of $1000-3000 coins

Most I ever spent was $457 for my MS62 Large Cent. 2nd most would be my proof 3c which, after eBay bucks, cost me around $340.

You should save your money so you can have a complete flowing hair dollar set.

You can afford a 100k coin. What If I told you that I know someone who has 1 who might sell it.

I'd tell you that it's probably not smart to discuss other folks business on the internet without their knowledge.
