    bdunnse Who dat?

What is your favorite U.S. Coin.

Be as specific as possible: denomination, date, mint, variety, ...

    No commeratives.

I think mine is: Cent, 1859

Reason: nice thick hefty cent with no shield (not sure what the shield is supposed to represent) and greatest u.s. coin obverse.

I would not be able to pick a favorite. I like morgans,Large Cents, Double Eagles, buffalo nickels, and flowing hair dollars.

    mercury dime.

great design, mostly from thee 1940's, simple, beautiful when it is fully struck. most of the time affordable, and NO I still do not have the 1916-D lol, sold both of my 1921's and regret it (fell on hard times) and will have to get them back in the near future lol :blackalien:

You don't have a 1916-D? I've had 4 of them in the past year. it is quite the treasure to behold once you get 1.

you must be rich ? I am poor. :bigtears: I might be able to save up for the lowest grade ? AG-G ? what do these grades get $400-500 ?

I'm not rich but I sure am wealthy.

The 1916-D coins I had where mostly VG8 and I sold them from 800-1000 (1 was at auction) 1 of them was a G4 which I used as a trade to get a nice gold coin. I've seen about 25 fake 1916-D's before I saw a real 1 offered to me.

what did the G-4 go for ? if I do buy it...it will have to be slabbed PCGS or NGC.

You might think I'm a whackjob but I really dig the Shield Nickel. Flying Eagle Cents are great too.

Mine is probably the 1857 FE cent that has the clash with the 1857 $20 gold piece.

Isn't there one also that has a clash with a Liberty Seated Dime?

I picked up this not too long ago. I have a collection of interesting looking lowball specimens. I only collect the more attractively worn specimens though. If they're too ugly I just unload them. FR02.jpg

    1936 Walking Liberty Half
    - one of the nicest designs of all times
    - in '36 there were both PRFs and some 12M MS coins struck for circulation
    - what makes it an affordable silver coin for every collector
