I'm guessing VF35/XF40. Flat eagles shoulder and detail loss in the Indians head dress. These suckers are tough to grade.
Looks like a better VF35, but not XF to me. But Matt certainly knows more about grading than I do so trust him not me
I'm a bit more optimistic with this coin. It looks XF45 to me every day of the week, with a shot at AU50.
My first guess was a xf45.......thanks Not worth to let it grade by a TPG......but it's a San Francisco coin....mmmhhhh....
I'd say it a little bit differently Matt to cover all bases. While the fields will usually show wear first, it is not impossible or unheard of for the devices to sometimes show wear when the fields do not. In other words, it's similar to the way regular coins can sometimes show wear in the fields and not on the devices.
ass-backwards/ugliest coins in US history, IMHO, and difficult to grade until you've handled a few thousand of them (and I have NOT).
