Thanks for that history of them. Cool - yeah I know they are not respected but I thought it neat. Who knows if they can not grade maybe they missed an error and I get a double die!
With a few exceptions, if you know what you are doing, you will be fine. Buy the coin and not the holder. It doesn't matter if the coin is over graded by 10 points so as long as you know how to avoid problem coins, grade, and pay a fair price (always err on the side of caution and insist on a return privilege). I have purchased decent coins that ended up in PCGS plastic and have even profited. Granted I purchase very few of them, but the point is if you are knowledgeable, you can find acceptable coins in all types of plastic.
Well here they are. I have looked and they did a good job, it is more scratched up than my NGC graded MS64, yet better than my MS62. It pretty much matches my NGC MS63. I am not sorry I bought it, it is a nice slab etc. On this one I would say they did a good job.
This coin appears to be certified by the old NTC. The company was bought out in 2013 and they are a pretty good certification company now. You could submit this coin to the new NTC if you want. If it downgrades they give you a grading credit. They do something else if it upgrades but I forget what that is.
