Some new buys: 1928 $1 LT CGA-64OPQ I didn't care for the CGA holder, but the paper wave is incredible. 1935A $1 SC Star PCGS 64 1985 $100 Dallas Star in CU - Key to Series 1929 $20 FRBN Philadelphia 58 EPQ - 2 Consecutive The 58 takes me one step closer to a district set entirely in 58. I plan to upgrade that CGA Boston when a PCGS/PMG one comes around.
That $1 USN is spectacular, the centering is very nice for that issue, notorious for being off center, yours is great. Scissors will take care of that holder... Alot of great pickups there. You clearly have too much disposable income, we need to get you a girl...
A girl? Sure. Just as long as the wife doesnt mind. . In hand, the LT is an easy 65 without a doubt. Hard to believe CGA undergraded a note!
Funkee, that dollar type set must be coming along nicely? How are you doing that set, tpg graded? I am doing a set also, raw and graded, but sticking to major types.
I just got this one in the mail today. I picked it up on Ebay for under $200 which seems like a good price for a totally original note. It's my first large size note with a PQ designation. These don't come up for auction as often but it was worth the wait to seek this one out, as it looks truly original in hand.
Close, but some of the priciest ones are left. My collecting budget has taken a hit due to medical expenses. Had to sell my 1869 $10 Jackass Rainbow and 1880 $20 Legal Tender. Here's some eye candy of what's left: http://uploads.im/?g=7ZIkc.jpg (Full size image loads at the bottom of the gallery) Most of my $1's were all bought raw, except the '23 Legal and the 1891 Treasury. Still missing are Large Size: Original Series or 1875 $1 National, 1869 Rainbow, 1875 $1 Legal Tender, 1890 $1 Ornate Back Treasury Note. Small Size: 1935 $1 Double Date, 1935G Motto & No Motto, 1935H $1
Not really a currency collector but I have been picking up some material relevant to North Carolina with a focus on my hometown. Here are a few examples.
Last week my mom gave me a Series 1990 $20 bill she got at work. Last night a customer spent a Series 1969 C $10 bill at work. They're both heavily circulated but I didn't want them to go to the Fed's shredder. It's refreshing to see those handsome old notes after being used to seeing the ugly modern bills. You forget now neat looking they were when you don't see them every day.
2006 $1 Fancy Serial CGA star holders are heavier than the older CGA holders funkee, they are actually starting to get a spot in the currency collecting world. Nice 1928 $1 red !
