I went on the net to find the symbols of Canada. Of course I knew about the Maple Leaf, but here are some of the others listed: The Canoe Hockey (of course) The Moose The Loon (they must be thinking of Steve) The Mountie The Maple Leaf The Great Outdoors Beer (once again, they must be thinking of Steve) Then I went into my coin collection to see if I might find something that would connect with any of the above symbols. I couldn't find anything, so in honor, and with loads of imagination, I am dedicating this Roman Republican Denarius to Canada Day and all my coin friends North of .......well, North. L MARCUS PHILIPPUS ROMAN REPUBLIC; GENS MARCIA AR Denarius OBVERSE: Diademed head of Ancus Marcius right, lituus hehind, ANCVS below REVERSE: Equestrian statue right on an arcade of five arches; flower below horse, AQVA MAR between arches, PHILLIVS behind Rome 56 BC 3.06g Cr425/1, Marcia 28, Syd 919 And for today I am changing the reverse description to read: Mountie statue right on an arcade of five arches; loon below horse, AQVA MAR between arches, STEVEIVS behind (if you look cross-eyed at the rider you just might make out a beer in one hand and a hockey stick in the other). In all seriousness: HAPPY CANADA DAY!!
Happy Canada Day you hosers! I was just wondering, is Canada considering changing their national moto to: "Winter is coming"?
I was going to make a comment since it has been warm lately but today it went down to 11 degrees. But then again most of Southern Manitoba is currently under a state of emergency due to the excessive amount of rain we have received in the past week. We have four seasons in Manitoba: Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and Construction. Here is a picture to help you visualize minus the beer and the hockey stick. Thanks for the Canada Day post! Now I am off to the bar for a beer soon. It is one of the few days I don't feel bad drinking before noon.
Well, I like to think that my avatar says it all!! => here's to Polar-Bear-swimmin' with bow-legged women!! => Happy Canada Day, my awesome coin-friends!!
