Counterstamped 1929 Cent, Any Ideas?

    Came across this guy this morning. I've seen a lot of counterstamped cents... but never this one.

    Anyone know what it is?

    It reminds me of some of the Mexican revolution counterstamps. But they usually had the SUD abbreviation, not an SSS, plus the revolution was over and the Christeros war was happening then

    Silly Stupid Stamp?

    Or:
    They mismade the stamp and meant SOS they were stranded on a desert island, counterstamped the coin and attached it to a board of wood in a rescue attempt?

    It does somewhat resemble one of those old Mexican reales as someone mentioned earlier. But history is filled with too many acronym's that are "SSS".
