Hey folks, can I get some help determining if this is an error, or post minting damage. The weight is 5.7 grams, rounded up by the scale I assume, since this is right where it should be. You can just make out the tails side, though it's slightly difficult to see in the scan.
The reverse of your coin has been sanded and/or ground off after being put into circulation. It didn't come from the mint in that condition.
I was afraid that might be the case, would not the weight deviate quite a bit if/since that's the case?
What was removed actually doesn't weigh much. If you want an accurate weight, you need a scale that goes out to at least two decimal points.
Like Rick said, the design details of the reverse don't weigh much. The sailboat in the foreground and the bridge in the background probably required very little metal. Chris
