Just photographed my favorite 1961 Proof Lincoln in indirect sunlight with my iPhone. This looks good enough to eat.
For some interesting reason, there are an unusually high (if you can call 50+ high) number of PCGS BN (which is how PCGS classifies non-red coins) Proof Lincolns in the year 1961. I heard a theory on another board that the mint was experimenting with a chemical rinse for Proof coins in the early 1960's (the use of which peaked in the year 1961). I have found a number of 1961 Proof Lincolns that toned inside the original mint cello. I call this the "1961 Anomaly". It's interesting to note that the large number of BN graded Matte Proofs from 1909 to 1916 was due to the mint wrapping those coins in sulfur laden tissue paper before mailing. Other than the early 1960's and especially 1961, BN graded Proof Lincolns post 1950 are extremely rare (as shown by the population bar chart below).
I love the Eisenhower dollars as well. And I like Eisenhower as a historical president. In fact I just ordered a 1973-S (my birth year) clad proof Ike off the ebay.
Not rare but Red Brown EF-Au55? 1994 DDR 85-P marks is why is a High # 60 die variety on 1994-P in Change from gas.

Okay, I won this coin and am paying for it on credit, so I need to stop looking at coins for a but until I can afford them. A great Type coin for my set: (seller pics)
