Mainebill, you have amazing coins but if we ever meet at some dinky Maine coin-show, I am going to bring my camera and take some proper pics of your coins.

The last three. I have one more, an 1861, I need to get back from the guy who sent it in for grading for me.

I need to acquire one as an example for the Legend reverse variety slot and an example from San Francisco for the other branch mint then I will have a complete type set of the Seated Liberty half dimes by major variety (9) and branch mints (2).

The 58 is not a proof. Actually harshly cleaned many years ago and starting to look a bit better.

What year did the corn first appear on the reverse of the half dime? I want one.

The wreath of this style was first used on the half dime and dime for circulation in 1860 and was used for the duration of both denominations. The half dime 1860-73, the dime 1860-91. AU-50 to MS-63 grades for some of the years are still quite affordable and with little effort both white and eye appealing toned examples are out there waiting for you.

The coins struck with the new reverse in 1859 for the half dime and dime are considered patterns as they were not struck for release into circulation.
