I seen this "copper" coin online. It's obviously a fake, and they are so awful that they didn't even use the right metal composition!![IMG]

I know nothing about this kind of coin, but I can imagine that someone shot it against a brown or reddish background and their camera or photo software "auto-adjusted" it to look like this.

    doug444 STAMPS and POSTCARDS too!

Plus they inscribed the wrong word; the coin says "Tai Ching," but it's really a "Ka-Ching..."

What color is it in hand . Is it copper like it says or silver ? I hate this cheap Chinese junk .

I remember a few coins , like a bust half dated 1842 , or some non existent date . I just wish that all their fakes were this bad .

There are few laughably poor well-known off-dated fakes such as the infamous 1903-CC Morgan, but the way things are headed in certain dcircles, we could just call them "fantasy" pieces. ;)

I know very little of authentic Chinese coinage, but can say that I've unfortunately seen a lot of pot metal junk passed or trying to be passed of as junk silver.

Quality of the details is about right, possibly a genuine coin that has been silver plated. No way to say for sure without examining it in hand.

    Yep.

It looks like a common China Empire 10 CASH copper coin dated 1907. The denomination would be 10 cash and the Krause number is Y# 10.5
Cat value is $4.50 in EF and $18 in Unc.
IMO only the color depicted in the OP photo is questionable. Without the link, further description, or having the coin in-hand I could not comment further.

I have a couple copper colored examples. I believe the first photo depicts a 10 Cash & the second is a 20 Cash.
