It's fine. Frankly the only thing I can tell that is different between now and a few weeks ago is the font size is now larger (ok with me). I can't recall what the heck the margins looked like before your modifcations.
Here's with rickmp's suggested resolution. It looks ginormous...my eyesight is going but it's not that bad yet
On your screen size, the margins would have been very slightly different, maybe about 60 pixels each way. That 60 pixels wouldn't make much a difference to you, but someone looking at a 640 screen resolution it would be huge.
In this post, I thought to were wanting to have narrower margins, so I suggested the change. If it doesn't work for you, set it back.
On bigger screens like that it becomes a problem the other way. The text gets so stretched out that you get whiplash reading it.
The overbearing margin issue has been resolved I still don't get the necessity for any margin. Zero would be good It just makes less real estate available for content and forces us to scroll more. There is one big improvement I notice, now the upper bar which includes inbox and such - formats to the window size and I can actually see that without scrolling sideways, not that I get any mail or that I ever checked anyway
People on smaller screens wouldn't see the need for margins. It's certainly a balancing act to try to make the site work well for all screen sizes, maybe impossible. The scrolling thing was definitely one of the issues I was trying to resolve, and I'm pleased to hear that (in your case at least @AWORDCREATED ) that it worked.
Scrolling takes so much time and effort. After scrolling three or four lines, I always need a good nap.
I do, the margins gives someplace convenient (off to the side) to rest your cursor. Otherwise, with no margin, your cursor is always producing those annoying (very annoying to me) preview pop-ups and link pop-ups. You could have fixed that at anytime by changing your display size. But I agree the changes made do indeed do away with the need to do that.
I like the way it appears on my cell phone now. I don't have to scroll from side to side to read. Everything fits right on my screen. Haven't been on my computer in a few days.
Peter: I like how the most recent thread per forum highlighted at the top of the homepage now...very cool. TC
I prefer the cointalk margins over the banknote margins. Why change? As you wrote, users can change the size of the font if a different size is desired. Not sure what the advantage is to wider margins. Thanks so much for maintaining this site. I know it's a lot of work and headaches. When I return home after the 28th I'd like to send a donation to be used maintaining the site. Where do I send it?
