It is possible the US Mint may offer these for sale during a 1-month window. So, in this scenario even though the big dealers will still get in first, you should still have time to get your sets. TC
Absolutely! I don't understand what everyone is crying about. Everyone who wants one will get one, you just wont have it in hand the very first day unless you actually attend the ANA. Is that such a bad thing? Is life so bad that the worse possible thing is to have to wait a few months for the very same coin that some few lucky people will get the first day. I personally think I deserve it. Im the one who will shell out the money to pay for gas, hotel and food while the rest of your are sitting home on your nice comfortable couches placing your orders. I will be the one who will stand in line for hours so I may be one of the first to get my coins. To me its all by choice and worth every penny.
If they mint these for a month, or let you order for a month, I doubt I get any. Only want in if it is limited
I agree that is fair and I will be standing in line with you for this one. But I think most of the complaints were with the way the mint took orders through the internet/phone. The Mint seems to have changed their stance on this recently with the baseball coins and I would expect to see ordering limits for the Kennedy sets as well. The 2013 West Point silver eagle debacle seems to have turned the tide. Joe Collector saw pictures on line of pallets with thousands of sets being delivered to a single dealer and then had to wait several months to get his one set. That was ridiculous and I hope the mint never allows that situation to happen again.
Well, now I have nothing to whine about other than the fact that I won't be waiting and standing in line with you guys...........
I personally don't care about the ANA release...I have no interest in buying them ay crazy high premiums and I'm not in this hobby to flip new releases for a quick profit before the price plummets. I would love to order a gold one...but right now I just don't have the money. However, I might jump on one of those 4 coin silver sets.
This set is going to be a flop in the aftermarket. I'm going to wait and pick up the gold coin next year for spot.
I did not read the post but if you want each coin set US Mint sell sign up as a Member. I have not missed a set I had money for get Membership # ! that has worked for me.
Oh. You mean like the folks who ordered the HOF Coins 3 months ago and are still waiting to receive them did? Works for me.
I don't think the profit made would justify the expense...like the expense of attending the ANA show (which is across the country). But, like I said. I'm not in this to try and flip coins. I buy the coins I want with the money I have and I enjoy it. I'm not interested in going through the stress of trying to flip coins at the right moment.
This will be the first thing I've ever directly ordered from the mint, assuming online ordering is a real thing.
Lee, it s funny that you mentioned this. I will be heading there with a few buds (one of which is on CT). All have mentioned doing just that. Some of my friends have even mentioned about bringing other people along with us just to buy the coins just like the big dealers do. Lets give them a run for their money. Unfortunately, I don't have loads of cash to spend, but I have a plan on using my CC and racking up the points just like I did with the Reverse proof buff and HOF coins. Buy the coins, grade them and then flip them.
1980 I toured Philiplehia mint also got US Mint member number . Each January I get know list set to order proof silver has been two set each year . Them two wife don't say a thing about 33 years see order number. Has seen yearly
You're probably right but then I need a REASON for going and this is about as good a reason as it gets. I always like perusing dealer stock which I do not see at every freaking Northern California Coin Show (which is why I don't attend all the often) as sometimes you come up with some winners.
Back in the days before the internet and web site ordering. the US Mint had a "Customer List". Customers were assigned numbers and items which had ordering "limits" were limited by "customer number". Not shipping address. I had two customer numbers which enabled me to get 10 of what a lot of folks were limited to 5 of. (very poor sentence structure.)
