Well, although I hit-on quite a few chicks at today's auction, I could only manage to score one hot lookin' older broad ... but I think that she has some pretty sweet eye-appeal, yes? Faustina Senior. Augusta, AR Denarius 138-140/1 AD Rome mint Diameter: 17 mm Weight: 3.07 grams Obverse: Draped bust right Reverse: Draped throne; transverse scepter resting against arm, peacock with spread tail standing to right below Reference: RIC III 339a (Pius); RSC 219 Other: toned, a couple of light marks From the Demetrios Armounta Collection. Ex VAuctions 223 (5 March 2009), lot 97 => please feel free to post your Faustina I coins (Senior) ... cheers, gang!!
Yes, great coin Steve! The portrait is very distinctive, with great detail in the coiffure, and the peacock is magnificent. Two thumbs up!
Mine on malachite: Faustina Senior AR Denari ca. 141 AD 3.15 grams, 16 mm Obv: Draped bust of Faustina Senior facing right. DIVA FAUSTINA Reverse: Pietas standing sacrificing at altar AVGVSTA Grade: gVF or aEF coin that is sharp & clear even at the points of highest relief on Faustina’s bust. Other: Faustina Sr. was the wife of Antoninus Pius & died in 141 AD. P.S. (Malachite is a green-color copper carbonate mineral).
Glad I can finally post again, darn board. Anyways, nice buy. Its a lifetime issue too which is a tad scarcer then the normal DIVA issues. My lifetime issue and most here know its special cause of the reverse & rare. If you dont, peacock is on the seat of the throne and is acting like king shi* while the more common like the OP is under it.
At least the coin is beautiful, but you must be under Molson's influence if you think Faustina is a beaut.
