PMD or genuine error?

    This is a 2011 penny that has either been cut, or done at the mint. It appears to have a threading type cut on the coin[​IMG][​IMG][​IMG][​IMG]

    Probably somebody with wire cutters did that.

    Nasty looking Lincoln Charles. Looks like someone tried to turn it into 2 half cents.:eek:

    It reminds me of a buddy I have that used to sell knives, part of his demonstration was showing the scissors that came with the set can cut a cent.

    Actually, Cutco (which manufactures and sells kitchen knives) used to have (maybe they still do?) sales representatives that would come to your home to demonstrate their knives.

    One such item included with their products was a pair of scissors which was used to cut a penny in half.

    The damage on this coin looks exactly like a cent which was partially cut with Cutco Scissors.

    I think it's the failed prototype half cent the mint was making LOLOLOL
