I'm seeing 1943 date. Is this the real deal?

    1913 here, too! If it were a 1943, the left side of a "4" would be touching the "9".

    The 3's in a 1913 and a 1943 are quite different; yours is a 1913.

    Another way to check would be look at the shoulder. No VDB=no 1943.

    Try a magnet to see if it sticks, then look at the 3. As was stated, the 3 in 1913 and the 3 in 1943 are completely different. Based on the 3s alone, what you have there is a very grungy 1913 cent, but I do see where you could see the 4 in the picture you uploaded with your loupe. Nevertheless, its a 1913

    If you have a reprocessed 1943 handy, which would have a good clear date, COMPARE the 3 to the OP's coin...

    It's pretty clearly a 1913; the style of the 3 from 1943 is entirely different.
