Glad it worked out I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good grade can you inform me what the accented hair variety is?
Nice find. I'm sure the marks are mostly on the cello. I've gotten quite a few mint and proofs sets and thought, "What a bunch of dinged up coins." Then I opened them and, "Oh - never mind." The plastic also makes the coins, especially proofs, look hazy and dull.
No, The accented Hair Kennedy is NOT referred to as Spaghetti Hair. Spaghetti Hair refers to the fact that the hair strands on Kennedy's head look like strands of spaghetti instead of actual hair. The original 1964 design release showed individual hair "strands" which actually looked lifelike. In 1996 a redesign of the obverse was done (to accommodate high speed presses which demanded low relief coins) which introduced this low relief profile concept in addition to reducing the actual size of the Kennedy Profile. "Some" spaghetti hair was visible. In 2005, the spaghetti hair Kennedy redesign was complete with a noticeably smaller profile than the original design of 1964. The hair is, well, disgusting and totally destroys the original design! (Feel free to save the above photo for reference.) Hopefully, and I say "HOPEFULLY" the 2014 Gold Kennedy will NOT sport this disgusting low profile hair treatment!!!!
