Most assuredly. My gold BHOF's are probably waiting to be loaded on a UPS truck about now. UPS usually gets here in the mid afternoon which will give me time to get to the bank or the post office (depending upon what I decide to do with them after looking them over). I'll post pictures
Well, with an expected "Ship Date" of June 6th, I checked my order today, June 5th, and it has not changed to "In Stock and Reserved" which tells me that I should NOT be expecting a June 6th ship date. Could anything be any more screwed up than the US Mints handling of the HOF Coins?
No. Its the end of the World when the company/business your "order" coins from online, delivers those to folks over the counter "before" fulfilling their online orders. If this continues, it is possible that those who ordered "online" may never receive their coins.
OK, just arrived. Two of the three look good, but there is a scratch on the third and I cannot decide if it is on the case or the coin. I can't get a good photo of it either, but it jumps out as a bright scratch when I tip it just right. Nothing close enough to it to judge if it moves as I tip it more (indicating that it is on the plastic). Under te microscope, I see this: which doesn't help me either. I'd need to open the capsule, which I am hesitant to do.
I got my second order in last night. The quality, I must say is outstanding. My next order is supposed to ship 6-30 and I hope they are as good as these were. Pcunix, don't worry about popping that capsule, it's easy once you get it started. Heck, if I can do it anybody can.
Yes, the way they handle all of the popular issues. We hear the same complaints every time a popular issue is released. Well in that case it doesn't matter because the world has ended before this. This isn't the first time the mint had done this.
Gold unc.'s shipped on the 2nd of June. They await me, as I'm on the road. Can't wait to get back home and open the package...........
Does anyone know if any of the HOF coins actually were offered for sale by the US Mint at the Long Beach show?
Really? Name one other time that the US Mint has openly sold coins over the counter while the EXACT same coins have been "BackOrdered" for web purchasers who ordered them on the day they were released 2 and a 1/2 months ago?
CnClad Half Dollars in Proof AND Uncirculated were offered with a limit of 5 per customer (with some customers jumping back in line to purchase more than their limit. In this thread over on CU: http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=919036 When asked what was offered, Illini420 reported: "They had most of the stuff that is on the mint website, the proof sets, medals in both large and small, quarter rolls and bags. At least most of the under $100 stuff. Not sure if they brought all of the gold and platinum, but they did have a decent selection of gold eagles I saw. They also had the proof and unc Baseball HOF half dollars. Limit was 5 total coins either proof or unc or some mix of each. They started selling at 10am when open to the public and people were still buying at around 6:30pm today (6/5/2014) when I was leaving for the day. I heard of many people buying their 5 coins... then going back later getting 5 more... then again for 5 more... and so on. Of course, nearly all of those buyers were just flipping them right away. "
At this point my comment is: What is a HOF coin? Haven't seen my Silver ones, so they must be phantoms.
Still waiting on my second order to ship as well. Received my first one, but the second one is lagging a little. I like the proofs better the UNCs too. That contrast really works well on this one.
I don't remember if it was 2012 or 2013, but one of the commemoratives that year was released at the same time as the ANA Show in Chicago. Like with the HOF coinsthere were lines forming at the show before it even opened and people waited for up to three hours with dealerspaying people to stand in line, and buying them from people right after they got them. They were also buying them from people getting them slabbed at the show as first day of issue. (All this sound familiar?) And as usual the people who weren't at the show and ordered on line were backordered. Now I admit the coins were as popular and the backorder wait time wasn't as long. The 2009 UHR double eagles were also sold at a show, with people standing in line for hours and the dealers paying people in line there as well. Now in that case I don't know if that was the opening day of sales online or not.
I received my $5 proof today, so I'm now done waiting. I wasn't buying to flip this time around, so unless the microscope reveals some horrors I'll be satisfied.
I have a VERY late order put in for additional gold.. and it shows backordered. with expected delivery the 30th. Am I for sure getting these, or is there a chance I am on a waiting list?
This just popped up on Facebook: "Baseball season is in full swing and our employees at our facility in West Point are working diligently to manufacture the 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame $5 Gold Coin. For customers who are awaiting the fulfillment of their orders, we want to extend a special thank you for your continued patience." https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...set=a.331791684458.184447.103695769458&type=1
