That is NOT a tough choice at all. Leave the mint cello as-is and take another $20 and procure a set that doesn't look like some spectacular toning is about to occur. That would be my mindset if I were in your shoes.

Bought this low priced 1964 MS65FT Roosie. Couldn't pass up on the color. Looks like it's a painting.[IMG][IMG]

Just what I did, back in the cardboard sleeve and the red envelope. The toning is just on the rim, little of the same on all 3 coins. Nothing on the rest but a little haze. Works for me too since it's my birth year and all I really needed was the quarter. They didn't have one loose and I never even thought of the set until he brought it up so now I have an uncirculated set to go with my silver proofs and I can get another quarter without any problems on my next round.

Tell me about it. Even eBay has been rough. I find one I like and it ends up selling for more than I can choke on to bid lol.

One of the few toners in my NGC circulation issue registry sets. NGC MS67*RB Lincoln Memorial. The obverse has a few dings in it and the reverse is really clean. One of the few coins that I have seen NGC highlight the reverse 64revfullview.JPG 64rev.jpg 64obv.jpg

Just an MS65, but looks like he got in a cat fight. Notice the "scratches" down his cheek through the toning.[IMG]

    My first toned GSA Morgan.

    Some Questions:
Since toned coins were not supposed to be placed in GSA holders, would you consider this AT?
Since this coin is not in a GSA Holder with "Uncirculated Silver Dollar" on the plastic, is it possible they placed a toned coin in the holder?

I'm looking for opinions on this. I didn't think the material used in the GSA Holder caused toning, so how did this coin tone? Are all toned Morgans in GSA Holders AT?

I understand that, but I didn't think the GSA put any toned coins in the holders.

Well maybe the holder it's was put in it 1970-1972 could have helped.but workers may have not looked too.

I feel you. As a new slabbed Morgan collector, I have chosen PL & Toned MS Morgans as the two archetypes that I will be collecting. I have collected 3 coins in the last two weeks, but many of the coins that I REALLY want are insanely expensive. Kind of a bummer since I have $$ burning a hole in my pocket.
