The stuff I call "Shark Jumpers" (BHOFs, map shaped coins, buildings, ceramic infused, folding, whatever) is collectible in its own right. But what to call that sort of collection?

I propose Neonumia - what do you think?

Collector coins, NCLT, gimmicks. Or maybe OCT - after all, One Collector's Trash is Another Collector's Treasure. :)

I have a great idea! Why don't we call them "Numismatics"?

If they're coins, call them "coins" and not make a value judgement about what is worth collecting except when it comes to your own collection lol...

You may think they jumped the shark, but others might consider them a welcome innovation. All coins were new at some point. Who knows what coins minted now people will think are worth collecting 100 years from now?

That was exactly my point and why I suggested Neonumia. It's not insulting and no ill intent was meant.

Suggesting they "jumped the shark" isn't exactly complimentary lol... even if quite a few people may agree (heck, I do for a lot of them, but I'd defend the HOF's; they're cool looking IMO). How about "modern coins"? Pretty neutral, and just about everyone will understand the term.

But if you want a word for coins that differ from regular circulation coins, are primarily made for collectors, and can usually not be had at face, you need to specify that. :) Still prefer NCLT or (if that sounds too "technical") the term "collector coin".

Eagles are "modern coins". First Spouse are modern coins. These are different. It's not that they are NCLT, it's that they are strange shapes and could have things embedded like thermometers or jewels or have ceramics fused to their surface - they are not traditional.

And yes, I call them Shark Jumpers but I like the BHOF's too :)

To each their own. I'm just expressing my own opinion; I'm not trying to convince anyone here lol...
