If you had $500 to spend on one US coin, what would you buy? I think I'd buy a really nice circ seated dollar . . . a little bit better date if I could fine one I liked.
Since I've been exploring small cents lately, probably a problem-free AU FE. Lots of eye-appealing examples out there in the 500 range. I have the funds to acquire one, actually, but I'm just not in a buying mood these days, except for little snacks.
Sorry man, but US coins are so danged expensive, and I collected them for so long, that is why $500 is not very interesting to me. Not trying to be elitist. I could have a great time for $50 or $100 with world or ancient coins. US coins are simply way overpriced versus appeal to me at this point. But, point taken. I should have said those things the first time.
Yeah, the first thing I checked was a 1955 DDO Lincoln, couldn't get anything worth looking at for $500. The 1916 SLQ is way more than that. I settled for upgrading my AU53 SLQ to MS + FH. I might even have enough left over for gelato.
Not to be an elitist either, but $500 isn't much when it comes to US coins. If we're fantasizing, how about $5000? But at that level, I would be looking at ancient gold.
I think I would buy fives times as much of the same thing that I said I would for a similar thread that was started on May 12. Chris
