Just got an emai of one of my 2 pcgs shipments. They got the economy one done ahead of the standard!! Go figure! Was 7-9 in grading clean they called cleaning on an 1834 quarter that I never looked close at and enviro damage on an 1804 half cent that I thought would grade no problem. An 1835 half cent that I thought had a chance at ms was au-58 - still a nice grade and coin. Most of the rest did about where I thought they would except one. A 1921 peace I bought about 20 years ago for around $75 which I felt around au-50 they graded ms-63!! I was floored by that one! A $150 coin just became a $500 coin!! I'll post pics when I get them back and my other shipment (with the good stuff!) should be done soon too

That's a pretty nice turnout with only 2 non-grades. Mine's going in this week. Fingers crossed.

I always had trouble with the Peace dollars myself - I put a date set together many years ago, and always had difficulties distinguishing AU coins from MS on account of the consistently weak strikes.

It's round 2 I'm nervous about cause there's some real money coins in it a couple bust halfs that are borderline on an old cleaning and a 1854-c $5 that I'm not sure about the rims being filed on there's 8 coins in round 2 and well over $5k in value if they grade clean

That just plain ROCKS! I have a 21 that I bought as a kid and (I)cleaned it. It is VF-20/30 so not worth much but it will NEVER leave my possession as I always wanted one and finally got it.

image.jpg Ok got part 2 results back only 5-8 3 they called cleaned I expected it on the 1808 half but figured I'd try expected it on the 1807 too cause it's obviously been dipped in the past but it went clean I totally didn't see it on the half or the $5 tho

Bummer on the cleanings, but at least you know the truth about those coins (assuming you trus PCGS opinion, I do). Time for some upgrades. :)

The 1808 is a great coin regardless I gotta look at the 1880 again but I didn't see it I went over the 1854 with a fine tooth comb and nowhere did I see any sign of cleaning likely be one to wait a year or 2 crack out and try again or try it with NGC

For the record both the 1880 $5 and the 1881 $10 were cracked out of anacs slabs both graded exactly the same at pcgs

Interesting, white, yellow, or blue slabs if I may ask.

Out of anacs yellow slabs I bought them at a local auction 6 or 7 years ago when gold was much lower I was just starting to get more serious about coins again but I felt all along they were accurately graded thought the worst they'd do at pcgs was drop to 50 and 55. As their common dates and worth primarily gold value I felt there was little to lose. I have bought some very decent coins in anacs slabs that I felt were graded accurate as I buy the coin not the slab

I did not think the yellow slabs were that old. I am still learning. I do not mind ANACS either.

They've been around a while personally I hate the slab design and for resale their looked down on. That doesn't mean you can't find some nice coins in their slabs why I say buy the coin not the slab a slab can always be changed for the better a coin not so much.
