Sounds like he has found a nice friendly forum where people don't know what they are talking about and freely give confusing and possible incorrect information. After all if you can use any terms you want, or incorrect terms, how much serious discussion can there be. Sorry information transfer works best when precise terms are used. Sloppy use of language conveys the impression that you don't really know what you are talking about, and it confuses new people who aren't familiar with the terms and definitions when they get conflicting descriptions.
Precise words are for surgeons and airplane pilots and anal coingeeks. I doubt there's a person on this forum that doesn't know what a "penny" is. Besides, is a, say, standing Liberty quarter officially called that? My nickels don't say "nickel" so should I be forced to type out "5 cent piece" every time I post about them? Get over it. "Penny" has the same meaning as "cent" in the US. Rolls of pennies say "50 PENNIES" on them.
Yep,until 1971 one two hundred fortieth of a pound. Or in the US originally one nintieth of a New York dollar, and after 1792 two US cents. I should use the wrong term just because they do? And anyone else who cares about clarity of communication.
Nope they know plenty of what they are talking about I'm just saying when you post a coin they say nice coin good pick up not that's a cent not a penny well Boohoo its a penny to I got more to worry about in life then typing a penny or a cent I like my coins but it don't matter to me that much on penny or cent if you don't like it don't read it
