I know that FDR founded the March of Dimes but don't like any of the designs that inlcude the dime. Leave it out and use the space for something more artistic.

I agree. Leave the politicians off the coin. Let's actually celebrate the charity and not involve politics.

O-2 or O-8 with R-18 would be an attractive coin I would be proud that came from our country.

Because the mint can make more from the dollar.

Can they make more money from a hundred dollar coin?

...or a trillion dollar platinum coin....

hmm... I think 1 trill would be a tiny bit too much. Who would even use it? You can't get change for that :) A more reasonable coin would be in the 2-4 billion range.

Also make it out of zinc with plated copper or else it would be too expensive for the mint to make!

Wait a minute,This sounds familiar.... trillion dollar platinum coin? hmm.....

I could live with any of those three... O-2 looks more like a reverse to me though. O-8 would be ok as an obverse, and O-18 looks good as a reverse.

To be fair, FDR has a very significant connection to the March of Dimes and I don't oppose depicting him on the coin in general; however I agree they should avoid depiction of the FDR-dime itself; it just looks too aesthetically crowded.

That being said, the point of the commem. is to commemorate the March of Dimes, not FDR. I kind of like the first 2 myself for the obverse designs. Any of the dime-less reverses look pretty good to me.

This will be a flop just like the civil rights commem,

FDR didn't care for being photographed, let alone seen in a wheelchair. So they depict him in a wheelchair on the coin - a dollar - and not a dime.

If the mint had it's druthers together they would make a circulating commemorative dime. And make silver ones for collectors. But then we know the mint operates like the US government, eBay and Sears: the backwards thinking profit margin.

I like O-10 and R-14 Only problem is that combination does not mention the March of Dimes.

In general I don't care for the idea of picturing a dime on the coin. While the March of Dimes now works on birth defects it was formed to research polio and since this is the 75th anniversary of that I would rather see the commemorative concentrate on the polio connection. (That pretty much eliminates all the obverse except 10, 15, and 16. And all the reverses except 14 and 18.)

I'm also afraid Buzzard is right, this is probably going to be a flop. I can't help be wonder if the March of Dimes will get the surcharge money or if they will get shut out like the Girl Scouts did.

This may end up the worst coin in the history of the mint. Who in their right mind would make a dollar to commemorate the march of dimes!?!?

Yeah, it sure wasn't the "March of Dollars". The whole mint programme is a ship of fools with miserable ideas.

    I like O-15 and R-16.
Jonas Salk and FDR together in profile is, in my mind, perfect.
I think the leg braces make a powerful statement.
If those two are picked, I'm buying!
My grandfather had polio as a kid. He grew up to be an ice man. He had spindly, little legs all of his life, but was tremendously strong as an adult.
