That is just bizarre to me. I collect baseball autographs, so I have a pretty good feel for that particular market. When it comes to baseball autographs, the "best" or "most popular" medium is typically Rawlings Official Major League Baseballs (ROMLB). Bats hold a little more value, but the bat itself raises the price. Most serious collectors prefer ROMLBs signed with crisp blue ink in the "sweet spot,"

So, just for the fun of it...I did a little research as I do not own a Reggie Jackson autograph. I did quick eBay search for a PSA/DNA certified (the authenticator that tends to have the biggest premium) Reggie Jackson autographed ROMLB in blue ink. Specifically, I looked for one with a really crisp, high eye appeal signature on a very clean ball. So, a "high end" piece. I wanted to see what the upper threshold value of such a piece was. That way, we could add that value to the current retail of a PF70 gold HOF coin and see how badly these are burning people. Remember, these autographs are on a small piece of paper...not the a baseball which is preferred by collectors.

If they had a Griffey Jr one I'd pay $6,000 for it. Looks like he retired a little too late!

L&C coins has most of these for way less money, Cal R. about $600 and Frank T. some are only$250 in a MS70 grade.. These are Silver coins not the Gold ones. Buy from from them and then sell on ebay...

LOL, no. PSA is the company that grades sports cards (just like slabbing coins) and the PSA/DNA service is the name for their autograph authenticating service. They are actually part of Collectors Universe...the same parent company that owns PCGS.
