I found this well worn veteran in circulation at the store. A customer spent it and 4 more regular $1 bills to buy some gas and I bought it.

Very nice. I came across a Racketeer nickel the other day in a coin shop, but it looked too good - it looked as though the plating had been done recently. Yours appears to have weathered some time and circulation.

Two ounces of gold, low mintage, and great obverse designs -- a tough combination to beat.

Mine is a common Kennedy half. What struck me though, was the position of the 7,s. I never noticed it before and I don't have another to compare it to. The second 7 looks like it's riding high on the rim compared to the first 7. Is this normal? IMG_20140509_212436.jpg

It's been awhile since I've bought something...went on a buying spree this past week. Can't wait for this one to arrive in the mail!

The Buchanan coin is a little bit misleading as he was never married. Rumors have floated about his sexuality since before he was president, but nothing has been proven.

Maybe they are die polish marks?

They are on the coin and they are die scratches (AKA die polish lines). Notice how each line stops at the devices. Scratches on the coin would preferentially mar the high points. These all stop at the high points on the coin. In other words, they are the high points on the die.

Thats a beauty dwhiz. I would love to have one of those fantasy coins in my collection but the going price on them is more than I can afford at this time. One day I will have one. For now I am happy with my 1922 12A Vam that I picked up for $29 when silver was down and the owner didnt know anything about VAMs nor did he want to learn.

First up is a small upgrade to my 1911 Lincoln. This is just a small step for an upgrade.

DWhiz, I got mine this past weekend. I like mine a lot; however, it's so perfect, I miss those contact marks that give coins their character.
