Anybody getting to the "Who cares?" stage with the HOF coins?

I'd like to know what happened to "first in, first out". I still don't have the gold coins, but people who ordered later in the day than I did do!

I'm not planning on "flipping", by the way. I bought 3 gold 4, silver and 5 clad and will be putting them away for my children when I am gone.

Just read the article – an unrelated comment brought to mind the whole problem with the CCAC and our modern coin designs, although there are some good ones. His comment about avoiding “Busy” coin designs. MY GOD! The era known as the “Golden Age of Coin Design”, the early 20th century, produced some of the most intricate, original coin designs that are true works of art. Am I missing something? Has the CCAC sacrificed true art for less busy, unoriginal, clip art for their purported reason that the design will accent the cameo proof, rather than the proof accenting the design? And, has the mint gone alone with this because it makes it easier for them to produce a simple design? Heck, why not make the design a super simple large numeric value – like plastic play money? Same CCAC mentality is at play with the HOF designs. Although they required some skill to engrave, I see NO art in them. What did the artist do takes pics of a glove & ball?

  4. The US Mint and their distributor have really handled this ineffectively. However, I do not believe anyone who ordered gold HOF after 1pm or so has received their coins. I ordered my gold uncirculated at 12:30 and received it weeks ago. My gold proof ordered later on has not moved. My guess is that they produced an initial run and are now producing more. TC

I ordered at about 12:10 and my uncirculated golds are not expected to ship until 6/21. The promise of FIFO is a pile of cow pies!

  6. Wow, that is very bad business on their part. At least you got your silvers. I hope you get the uncirculated gold soon.

Mine's the same, I got in at 1:05 and my uncs are expected to ship 6-21.

I did get a partial proof order last Monday. Sold them Tuesday and NOT on Feebay. It was my first time seeing them in hand and I liked them. I like the baseball side the best.

Surely it won't take until 6-21 to get these made and shipped, ya think??????

Supposedly their database is munged. At least one person claims to have had that 6/21 date but his coins showed up last week. Who knows?

Ready to hit the "cancel" buttons--Shipping in June 12 and July 3rd respectively for Proof and Unc. This issue has been mismanaged incredibly, and I would not be surprised to see mass cancellations, and folks not ordering from the mint anymore. The coins should have been minted to limits, then orders taken for actual coins, not "air purchases" and limited to mintages, and then sales open again, if there were substantial returns. What a joke!!

They probably screwed up and left out the 0 at the end of that. I bet they don't end up sending it to the buyer.

  18. I feel your pain. I do not think many if any people will cancel the gold though. This delay has been another major debacle for the US Mint (2010 bullion 5 oz ATB, 2013 ASE set, etc.). You realize though that all of a sudden one day out of the blue many will see "in stock and reserved" with credit cards hit and shipment a few days later. I am thinking that this has to happen before Memorial Day (approx. 2 months). I am sure that the US Mint will hear from those that get shut out after waiting so long.

  19. I agree. Seller was probably so excited to quintuple his money that he entered in the wrong amount. I am thinking he should honor the $25 BIN.

One of the coins I ordered jumped from a Mid May date to an early July date. This is ridiculious. Definitely a total screw up by the US Mint!!!

My gold coins have been late June/early July dates since the beginning. Didn't check up on them for about a week and all of a sudden yesterday when I did, they'd moved up to next week and mid-June. Of course, today the dates are both back to where they were before.

I have no problem waiting these out - as long as they don't charge me till they ship, I am ok, and I have not heard of any unusually early billing for these.
