The designs are (mostly) on the first post of the thread. Unless the original creator of a design objects (none of them have), anyone is welcome to take them and make t-shirts, mugs, mouse-pads, whatever.

And, no, I'm not saying this is a fundraiser, I said multiple times that this would be something I'd want offered at cost for the members of CoinTalk.

Very well Peter. I had just thought this might have been a great way to raise some money for CT. That's why I dug up this old thread in the first place.

Peter should have the final say on the design or logo, after all, it is his site and the name he picked. To leave him out of that loop would be disrespectful unless he chooses to opt out himself. (Which appears that may be the case). As far as where they're purchased, that's a different issue. That may end up being dollar driven. Who has assumed the responsibility of assembling quantities, sizes, paying for them and getting them into the hands of the correct individuals? That person would have to take responsibility for any problems afterwards. I have already experience several lost items with various shipping methods. One was a Christmas gift which was very upsetting. I would agree that it would only get used occasionally. Perhaps the 1st day of a numismatic show or for a casual evening get together later that night. I don't think the average individual would catch the meaning of the name in public.

I just don't see the demand. Those who want to contribute to CT are supporters. I just don't know if the amount of money raised would be worth the amount of work it would take.

Personally, unless we are going to make shirts annually, buying a press seems like overkill to me. Especially with sites like CustomInk out there and the small number of active people who would actually go for shirts, a press is unnecessary.....unless we outsource it to China for cheap :p

They should come with the year of mintage so that future values can be population based and so that any one member would want to collect the entire series, year after year.

Further, they should come in Gold bullion, Silver bullion and ... well... lowly clad proof.

It's not really that I'm opting out, it's that I don't feel the need to control what people want to wear. I'd be thrilled to see people wearing any kind of t-shirt, hat or whatever with CoinTalk on it. It would be a nice way for us to find each other at shows.

On the design side, I'm just really bad with that and am sure that we can find many people who would do better, plus the fact that I don't really have the know-how or time to figure out how to get a bunch of t-shirts printed up and shipped out to everyone.

Heck, I stopped wearing logo type T-shirts back in the early '70's. Had to grow up.........

You know, I really think the easiest way would just be to (as a group) decide what logo is the "final design." At that point, just make the jpeg available.

I have used websites in the past like cafepress (I ordered several custom water bottles from them)...and it is super easy, and affordable. Those who wanted shirts (or anything else) could very easily order them themselves as long as they have the logo. And, it's pretty cheap.

Literally, all you do is upload the photo...size it and hit order.

If you're volunteering to run the CoinTalk CafePress Shop, then that's great. The images are in the first post of this thread, use whichever you'd like, make more, or whatever. :)

Oh...I don't want that responsibility, lol.

My thought was, those who wanted one for themselves could very easily do it on their own for minimal cost. I've always worried that when someone tries to "organize" something like this, there are often issues.

My wife belongs to a dog rescue group and this is exactly what they did. I agree, this is definitely the way to go. Personally, I would go for one that is subtle in nature. To me that shows a little class.

Camaro has a great idea..pick your own from the list provided, and have what you want done yourself (t shirt, golf shirt, mug, mousepad..) I like it, and am going to have a look at those designs in the poll.

You're kinda going backwards don't ya think ? The design was chosen, see the poll at the top of the page. Or are you suggesting it all be done again, for the 3rd or 4th time now ?

Yup, that was done too. Shirts were ordered and delivered. Like I said I think there were a grand total of 11 of them. I have 1 of those 11. So, that means a whopping 10 people were interested.

So why ? Well, look at the poll. 52 designs to choose from, most got at least a vote or two, some got several, out of over 200 votes cast. The highest got 34. So, most people, by far, liked some design other than the one chosen. I would say that's why so few got ordered. Idea didn't work.

So what's the answer ? What you started off with -

If you want one, pick and image or make up your own, and go get it made yourself. Then everybody is happy.

I'm no suggesting we redo anything. I'm just saying if someone wanted a shirt (or anything with the CT designs on them)...then they can very easily have one made themselves. There is no need for a "group order" or even worse...anyone to buy a press. It has become very easy in the last few years to order such a thing online. The designs are available and it can easily be done.

My only reason for suggesting an "official design" would be if group felt like there should only be 1 design available.

I'm not going to order a T-shirt. I really only wear Oregon Ducks t-shirts (when I wear t-shirts). But, I might get a CT mouse pad. :D

I will. I will probably throw it into my next business card order from vista print. I need a new mouse pad for my office computer. :D
