So will there be a new 2014 CT shirts or what? Good idea to raise some loot for the hardware/ software costs to maintain the site. I realize there is a paid member option, but why not ask for $20, and send everyone a $10 shirt, Pete keeps the rest for operating costs. I would buy one, and we could hunt each other down more easily at shows.

Yes, I did miss that as I was on a phone, however, I am not sure he is suggesting what I am suggesting, which is that you guys use this as a money-raising opportunity, not simply a promotion thing for the CT brand. Why not do both? (make money and promote the brand)

It's not worth it to try to use it to make money, what I'd like to see happen would be to have someone who knows how to source a good quality t-shirt to put together an order for everyone who wants one (I'd order a few myself) at cost, not to make money but just to do it for the community. It would be neat to have people wear them to coin shows, for example, to be able to recognize fellow cointalkers.

I know a guy who owns that kind of store..we used him for company giveaways over the years. I'll do a cursory scouting mission..see what's available. If anything worthy, I will report back. As a start. Maybe someone else will do the same?

my sister runs her own t shirt print shop. I could buy one of her presses and use that to meet the CT demand for T shirts. possibly anyards and hats as well. I need to get a good idea on how many people will order the shirts. if it is enough orders I will go ahead and fulfill them... We still need to decide on a design though.

Buying a press would be huge overkill I think we'll be lucky to get a couple dozen people who want shirts.

For the record here is the cafepress t-shirt:

Apparently, there are trucker hats and pins too :)

If someone did want to put through an order, I recommend discountmugs.com. Through a student group I'm an officer for, we use them for our promotional items (including t-shirts) and they are affordable and nicely screen printed. I'd go in for an order

It's more of a YN's item. Considering this thread is the lead listing at the top of the forum, it hasn't set records for responses. And we have how many active members? Since the logo is simply CoinTalk, any T-Shirt store should be able to make them. Even if it's on your own.

Gee, there's no design on that shirt. Not really. I thought the design would be more...something. I'm not sure what..surely no one voted on that , did they?? Eeewww! Sorry.

If someone wanted to take initiative they could take images from the first post in this thread to use to make shirts, or make a new image.

I estimate a quality shirt will cost upwards of $20 et me know if you guys would pay that. if not we are going to have to get our own press to reduce costs to 10-15 bucks. problem is a press is $250-$300

I would pay 20, but I think it would be foolish to buy a press just for this. If you sold 20 shirts, the cost of the press alone would double the real cost of each shirt.

I would prefer a nice buttoned shirt. I think t-shirts are not very dressy.
If the site is wanting to promote professionalism and quality, then it sould be a buttoned shirt with a logo on the tie.
Failing that, a football shirt would be better than a t-shirt.
After all the cotton was only ever supposed to be used for wrapping tea, not for making into garments. A lot of people mistakenly believe that it is called a t-shirt due to it lack of shape, but the garment is actually a 'tea-shirt'

There are plenty of websites that can make T-shirts (or many other things) using a jpeg image. I would think that would be much more economical than buying the equipment yourself.

Personally, I don't know if I would have a lot of use for a CT T-shirt. Now, a coffee mug...or a mouse pad. I could probably put something like that to good use.

Perhaps, what we should do...if there is enough interest in such a thing is simply decide what the "official design" would be. Once we have that design narrowed down...simply make a nice resolution version available for download with recommendations for places to have things made (cafepress comes to mind). Then, that person can take the design and order a T-shirt...or a mug, or anything else they want with it.

Make is at "hands off" for Peter or anyone else. If you want a shirt...here is the design and here is where you can order it.

The idea is to use this as a fundraiser for future upgrades and/or events. I agree we should have an official design but as for the websites that allow you to make them yourself well, they can be quite expensive. So much so that it would turn off a lot of people from purchasing said merchandise. If we can fulfill enough orders to make the purchase of a press worthwhile then this would be an ideal way to raise money for CoinTalk. If not other ideas will have to be pursued.
