Still have 100 proof $1s coming later on. That order was 3 days after release.

I second this. I own a few commemoratives, but manufactured collectibles just don't trip my trigger. Feel the same way about state quarters, westward expansion nickels and presidential dollars.

Some of the 'crap' that's produced by other mints is really quite beautiful. Gimmicky? Yes. Desireable? In many cases.
Manufactured collectibles. What the devil does that mean. They're all manufactured. The 'classics' were manufactured.

    Guess I shouldn't have shorthanded it . . .

"Manufactured for the purpose of appealing to collectors, versus manufactured for the purpose of being circulating currency."

    Sorry if that was confusing.

No, it's not confusing. What confuses me is why anyone would 'dis' someone for collecting a certain series or coin. I'm not targeting you , my friend, as the statement has been universally presented as of late. If folks want to collect something, no matter how ridiculous it seems, then why not grant them quarter? It's their collection and certainly not skin off of anyone's nose.

With all due respect, I didn't 'dis' anyone. I merely expressed a personal preference, along with an explanation of why. I don't care what others collect, any more than I expect them to care what I collect.

You appear to be a veteran here, so please let me know if it's considered bad form to reveal what our interests are, and aren't, as collectors.

Received one of the Baseball coins today, the proof version:

The two older coins also arrived today, from another source.

Worry not, I did receive my bag earlier.

    :)

I never intended to buy any of it, especially remembering the $200 order I returned due to lint and dirt trapped in mint plastic.
So I saw a half dollar HOF last night at my coin club. Now I'm positive I don't want any of them.

Having one signed by Nolan Ryan and Cal Ripken would be pretty cool. I was never a baseball fan, but those two guys are two of the best to ever play. What is the premium on the signed version?

Just saw this banner on the Mints home page. Now is it just me or are they saying that the Halves are back-ordered?

I have zippo interest in these and virtually all mint issued commems. However, I hope those who buy them for a quick flip are successful beyond their dreams!

I bought extras hoping to offset my purchase for the one that will remain in my collection. Whether or not that will indeed happen is still up in the air, but I'm leaning toward a slight loss, and even that's OK. Anything that will help me fund my hobby is good. :)
