Finally decided to post my Gordian III denarius ive had for over 2 months now. I wanted the denomination and for $22 and the heavy weight for a denarius of him, I couldnt pass it up. Gordian III (238 - 244 A.D.) AR Denarius O: IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right. R: SECVRITAS PVBLICA Securitas seated left on throne, holding scepter and resting head upon hand. 3.81g 18mm RIC IV 130; RSC 340
1893 Columbian Half Dollar. A common coin in lower grades, but tough in higher grades. And especially tough to find attractive.
T'was the first commemorative that my father ever showed me. The second one was an Oregon Trail. Got me to be reading my Red Book back then.........plotting, ploying, planning. Loves commem's......
For 3 years now I have been going to the PNNA coin show with one thing in mind: Grab me a trade dollar. The first try, I could not find one I liked enough to purchase. I refined my sights to a PCGS/NGC trade dollar. The second try, I spent too much money and couldn't afford any I found. This year, I found one! It was at the end of my day at the show, I scavenged every table looking for a good trade dollar. Most had some problem coins in their cases all with holes, dings and cleanings, all raw. So I passed on those. I narrowed my results to two trade dollars that were both nice, slabbed, and in my price range. I finally pulled the trigger on the following one for what I felt was a good price. After I picked that one up, I thought I was done, but a little birdie told me to keep looking and I stumbled across this half eagle. A design I have always wanted at a good price.
You never know..I see you like Morgans also..those coins are going to CAC to be verified and hopefully a GOLD bean which will give them MS66 status ie double the price..James
Like Morgans? I am the original Morgan-lover. I see green beans, but not necessarily GOLD ones. Just cuz they are OGH coins doesn't guarantee a gold bean. They probably would grade 65+ in today's market, possibly 66.
65plus/66...I like how you think..first one maybe an upgrade..2nd one ..I think it's a plus anyways..going to contact CAC tomorrow and see about send in for verification..James btw..have other Morgans 65 from same collection..not touched in 20 years..sweet!
Another coin i've had for awhile now. I got it a few weeks later after my Victoria Crown. I liked the obverse portrait.
I can see what's going to happen now. The blanks will be broken out and sold on eBay as errors. We'll probably see a few of them here on the Error Coin forum.
Alright ladies and gents, here is my newest coin, a gift from my mother on a trip. First time I have ever owned this denomination, and going into my CAC Type set. Seller Description: Lustrous, golden olive toned surfaces on this Arrows at date Seated half dime. One small bump at 5:00 is the only mark on the coin. A very pleasing example.
