What's your biggest single note?

And I don't mean denomination -- I mean physical size. I just saw one posted that was the size of a legal-sized sheet of paper! Just a single note, no sheets, please.

When you post scans it would be helpful to include something to give us some scale (like a ruler or a dollar bill).

Looking forward to seeing some whoppers!

Nice idea! This should be a visually entertaining thread...

I do not have these scanned with a ruler or objects to help indicate scale but I'll list dimensions:

    1920 100 Korona HUNGARY A014 931153 (155 mm x 100 mm)

And for the biggest note I have... is a beautifully designed piece:

    1943 1000 Pengo HUNGARY F081 006235 (183 mm × 100 mm) (7.2" x 3.9" inches)

BTW, There are much larger notes among Hungarian series. These notes are not hard to come by in online auctions, and are relatively inexpensive. These notes will surely be eclipsed by others that I know from other countries and those which start to approach the scale of stock certificates! :)

I had to do a visual comparison, so I grabbed some screenshots and went into Photoshop. Here's the back of that Philippines note, next to a dollar. Yowzah! Biggest bill.jpg

Like Mackwork, my largest note is also Russian 11 inch X 5 inch.
I bought thousands of them from the family of a local businessman who traded with the Russian merchant fleet when it visited my home port, he always paid them in Russian Roubles and exchanged them from a bank in London.
I even have one of the receipts for cash transfer.
It seems that in 1922 after the USSR was formed they became useless.
They were put in his safe for 90 years until found by the family.
I paid £1 each for them and sold most on ebay for more than a £1 :wideyed:, I have two left.

You now know where Siberianman gets his Avatar pic from.:)

The largest U.S. federal currency, as we know it (and I'm not including the pre-Civil War "obsolete" notes) were the first issue 1861 interest bearing Treasury Notes. These were issued with attached coupons and measured 10 inches. However, they are such rare beasts I couldn't even find an image of an issued example to post. Here is a face proof of the $1,000.

This is a Chinese 1 Kuan or 1000 cash note from ca. 1360-1399. Not sure of the exact dimensions - but it is a huge note.

Very nice note, SM! Using the $1 for scale, that looks about 8 x 12 inches. My guess is, this is the note that the Philippines used as the baseline they had to beat.

I sure would love to own the Union Bank of Winnipeg, and a nice Northern Crown would also look good in my collection.

It would be a hard choice to pick a favourite, Charters are one of my specialties and I really want the Standard $5 from 1919 and the $20 from 1918 because of the feminine vignettes. The Princess Patricia note is my favourite government issued Canuck.

I was hoping you were going to say denomination lol... because I have a Zimbabwean $100 trillion bill.

Physical size, I just can't compete with these lol but this bill from Laos is pretty big:
