2014 50th JFK set

Hey,

For those more experienced with the mints process, any idea when they may release the 50th anniversary set? I've been itching for a new coin (be it old or new) this is the only thing on my radar

After the HOF coins, my wallet needs a break. So, hope they wait awhile.

 

I would expect these to be released in November perhaps?

 

I know they were talking about this set and sent some surveys out...but has there been an official announcement about this set in anyway...and if so, what it might contain? I haven't seen anything official.

 

Nothing official, but the mint has started promoting the 50th anniversary on their webpage. The link only goes to the 2014 regular business strike clad issues at this point.

 

Yeah...I saw that. That's why I was wondering.

Camaro, this is the last thing I saw on possible set types, pricing... and that was way back in April 2013.

 

OK...then I haven't missed anything. I remember that article. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

 

The citizens coinage advisory committee discussed designs in Feb 2014.

 

I was told by the third in command at the US Mint when I was at the Baltimore show that they are hoping to release these coins at the ANA show in Chicago the first week in August. He said they were ready to go on everything but just waiting to get approval for the go ahead to mint the gold coin.

 

So if they release at the show in August would they also go on sale online the same day?

 

Yes, just like they did with the baseball and buffalo coins.

By that I mean, there could not be amore worthless committee than this one!

 

Guess: On sale November 22, 2014; shipped in 2015.

 

What difference would it make? If they go on sale at a coin show, your online orders will be pushed out by 30 to 60 days if you could even get them delivered!

I am patiently awaiting this coin too. Ill probably get one of each type
