I haven't made it through the whole thread yet but why is it not right from the buyers perspective. Buyer's remorse......probably. Able to return & purchase elsewhere cheaper...probably. Who in this forum would not or has not returned something to a retail location just for the fact they found it cheaper somewhere else. Think real hard...I bet you have.

And returned under the full complience of the "return policy" of that establishment.

I honestly don't think I have ever returned something because I found it cheaper. I have returned things because I decided I didn't want them...but not because I found a cheaper one.

Well PLEASE tell "bossman" to please proceed to delete my info and by all means "ban me from the site" as coingeek stated in his personal message because I defnitely do not want to be any party to a group of people that go on the attack and resort to personal name calling when another new "member" or whatever you call yourselves visits and voices their opinion that doesn't agree with the majority. If you actually read my first post, I did NOT name call or attack however I most certainly pointed out the fact that "Joe" was in the wrong and also pointed out that the return policy on Ebay absolutely does NOT default to a 14-day return policy. Any one of you can go to Ebay right now and start a new listing, jump down to the return policy and see for yourselves what options pop up. I can upload a manipulated screen myself - all I am saying is go see who is lying and who is not.

If I see someone not telling the truth and know it for fact, I'm going to call them out and I would think anyone offering support to someone that is so obviously NOT telling you the whole truth should take two minutes to see for themselves.

I re-read my first post and damned of I see what got you people so riled up but at this point I care not. And whats with the "troll" calling? is that the name-call word of the day?

GREAT WEBSITE YOU HAVE HERE BOSSMAN!

    Goodbye and good riddance.

yup. Case in point, a hugely overpriced Monster cable I bought at a store with a nice new TV; saw the same thing online later that day for more than half the cost and returned it to the store. I didn't flinch and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Buddy, take a breath. If you actually read what I wrote, I agreed with you. The rules da rules and ebay followed the rules. However, my following posts highlighted how you UNKNOWINGLY wiggled your junk in the OWNER of the sites face. It is funny because you didn't know. Calm down. Nobody likes the guy at the party that has panic attacks.

The buyer did the right thing returning the coin.

It's hard to believe anyone who says they wouldn't do the same thing (eat thousands of dollars in losses when the buyer offers a no questions asked return policy).

What I find hard to believe is someone would pay that kind of money to begin with. These coins are going for crazy prices and 99% of the time this happens...within weeks the price drops significantly.

I'm not surprised at all the buyer returned the coin. I think it's a little shameful because they agreed to pay that price and then backed out...but that's the risk you run with a return policy.

I would of advised anyone here on cointalk to return the coin within 14 days.

Suppose you're right. He got caught up in the hype and had second thoughts. Been there, done that and have taken the bullet. This guy bailed and did so with a lame excuse. If he were a Man, he would have PM'd Joe and discussed it person to person. Ya know? I think if he'd of done that Joe would have let him off the hook. Such a lame and childish excuse for returning a coin.......

I completely agree. The thing is, there is a return policy...and eBay will enforce it. Why make up an excuse about a "smudge." Just say you changed your mind and what to return the coin.

It probably wouldn't matter even if he didn't have the 14 day return policy, the buyer could of said the item was not as described and 99.9% chance he would win the case imo.

Although its possible the buyer would of been more likely to honor the sale had he stated no returns.

:cold:Is SCC gone? Oh well, at least he/she had an opinion.

I understand the point of this thread, but just remember, regardless of which return policy you choose, a buyer can get a refund from eBay and you will pay it back. Well, I shouldn't say, "Will". The only return I have ever had on eBay, I fought and won, but it must have taken 20 phone calls to eBay, with 19 of them telling me, "They're sorry, but the buyer claims the item is not as describe". Even after I was told I won't the case and they sent me an email to that affect, I continued receiving emails for 2 years requesting that I pay the refund amount or they were going to suspend my account, which required more calls and emails forwarding their email that said I won. And, that was years ago when they were friendlier to sellers. Definitely not worth the fight and that’s the way eBay wants it.

I think it's best to offer returns on BIN listings. I think even Mike Mezak at HSN offers returns. And let's face it, if a newbie came on here asking what to do after horribly overspending on a hyped up coin from HSN, we'd all advise he/she make a return.

The one problem I have with the buyer is that he initiated an "Item Not As Described" case, which usually forces the seller to reimburse the cost of return shipping.

I was referring to the buyer honoring the sale, not the seller. ;)
