I see on here people still find them from time to time, but I know it's not very often. The last (and only one) I found was last fall from a coinstar.

I've only managed to find a couple when searching rolls. I've never actually found one in the wild.

About two weeks ago, I was going to a small change poker game and on the way I picked up some rolls from the bank. I found three silver quarters in those rolls. They are still out there waiting to be found.

Not a quarter but last week one of our customers used a 1966 Kennedy half. I was happy to pay face for it. Last time for quarters was a few years back when a customer paid his electric bill with a roll of silver quarters which also cost me face.

Got one last year at a gas station. I could hear silver in the store clerks hands before he handed me my change. It was a good day!

I found one atop a Coinstar a year or two ago, but it's probably been ten years since I last received one in change.

I suspect Coinstar is catalyzing a lot of this -- it's easier than ever for people to dump their jars of change, Mom and Dad's jars of change, Grandpa's jars of change, and so on. If the machine rejects the silver, they'll often cash it in at Customer Service, or if there isn't much, just spend it as pocket change.

I remember seeing a little old lady leave the Coinstar and go to customer service. I wandered by the machine a bit later, and saw a couple of silver dimes in the reject slot. I went to customer service, and it turned out the lady had brought them some change that the machine rejected. There were six more silver dimes in the customer service register. :)

It's been so many years that I can't even remember the last time I looked for one let alone found one ! I haven't searched change since I was a kid.

I only use cash when going to a coin show or buying coffee. My change back from coffee is always seven cents and occasionally some bills besides. So I can't remember the last time I found a silver quarter. :>( Everything else is debit card.

No kidding, weekend before last we were in a department store in the mall I was returning some clothes my wife bought for me. The first cash wrap we walk up to I look and see a very familiar face - tall young blue eyed blonde - she works part time at my credit union also.

And yes, they find coins in their trays and keep them for me. They are very well trained.

It's been about 6 months since my last find of one and it was in a roll search, but I usually just give them to my father he keep's pre-70's. But, I was just discussing this very subject with my ol' man today and how you can't find them nor the Roosevelt Dime pre-1964. It make's me wonder as any other coin that you can't find today in pocket change today, where will this put the Roosevelt Dime and Washington Quarter in the next 25+ year's, I understand that there were million's of them printed, but again I still find Wheaties and 1940's Nickels by the dozen during roll searching. But, with the hype of silver everybody is more on the "well it ain't worth nothing so it's junk take it for the silver." I watched a guy cash in 500+ silver Roosevelt Dime's at a coin show last month, honestly it irritated me, I understand "freewill" or that their worth more in silver, but again where does this put these coins in 25+ year's. Sorry for such the rant, but I love collecting coins and their worth more than silver to me..
