Will the Baseball Hall of Fame Gold coins sell out first day?

US Mint Gift bag...arrived today. It was shipped two day air and UPS required my signature ! Duh!

The shipping must have cost more than the bag is worth. Is this what some mean when they say "Value Added"?

Is this anyway to run a government?

The good news is that my Proof silver is due next week, and Proof gold in Two more months on 6/21/14!

It appears that the prices on eBay may be slowly returning to earth. The Pumpers have made their killing and have left the room.

I'm a little puzzled by the fact that my gold proofs are expected to ship this week, yet the gold unc are 6/21. I got my order in around 1:20. Don't they mint these to demand? I can't imagine the unc version was scooped up that much more ahead of me.

 

Probably best to pull it out of the holder for proper photography Chris, but I can see one reluctant to do so.. Especially this old sod. My Unc.'s slated for 6/1 shipping date. Can't wait.......

 

My initial theory was that the mint was producing the proofs first and then the uncirculateds. That theory went out the window following TC's post.......

 

Yeah, some of the reports of shipping dates don't make sense. Just makes me wonder.

 

None of it makes sense. My order was at 12:07 and my coins still haven't shipped. The first-in first-out policy is BS

Yeah, something is fishy. There are people with later order times who claim their orders have shipped.

 

Apparently both my half dollars have shipped but none of my bags have shipped. Go figure....they ran out of bags before they ran out of coins.

They probably made far fewer uncs than proofs in the first run.

 

The US Mint just moved this announcement to their homepage:

· 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame Coin Program: Due to the extremely strong demand for the 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coins, household order limits apply to all products. The United States Mint will continue to evaluate these ordering limits on a regular basis and adjust or remove the limits accordingly. We appreciate your patience as we work hard to provide you all of your coin collecting needs.

This is a notice they issued a few days prior to release, but they just moved it front and center. Makes you wonder if they are making some adjustments to ordering limits now after orders have been placed. Has anyone heard of people receiving orders of the max 50 gold coins?

 

You can still buy the silver ones at around $10 above mint price if you know where to look.

Yeah, I wondering if they didn't expect to sell as many uncs. Which, if true, kind of supports my theory that more people bought full sets than other releases.

 

My uncirculated gold ordered day 1 is now in my possession. My proof gold ordered day 2 is now in process. I would bet if the uncirculated was ordered on the second day that I would never get it.

That is a fake. Someone either used photoshop or angled the camera and lighting to distort the image. If you look closely enough, you can actually see then W.

 

Yeah, I'd say that's more likely than a missing mintmark. But, MintNewsBlog thought there's something to it. Looking forward to updates on this.

 

The guy who posted it just came forward to say that it is likely an error with the capsule and not the coin.

 

Heard a rumor that the US mint gift shop at the Denver mint has the silver HOF coins and you can call in an order to them and they ship right away. Again, just a rumor but may be worth a try if you have the time to call and want them at issue price. TC
