I'm excited to share this coin. I bought it at my local shop this week. I thought I got a fair deal on the coin. I have either seen worn smooth fugios or nice ones with a nice price. This one fit the budget and this cent has a great history behind it which is the reason why I bought it. Some crazy stuff went on back in 1787.
Nice coin, Tater. Congratulations on your first Fugio. I love Fugios and have 3 of them in my collection. Have you tried attributing yours?
Cool piece. One of my regrets in this hobby was returning an 18N United States Fugio that I bought on eBay because it had a touch of corrosion. I haven't seen that variety since.
I have not. I'm not sure how to attribute this series. I only have a book for late date large cents as me and my father are trying to get a complete set of all Newcomb's for 1847. Why 1847 its the year the Mormon Pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley and we are both Utah natives. Do you have any suggestions on this Fugio Cent and how to attribute it.
Thanks everyone for the comments. I've never had a chance to buy one, nor was I in the market looking for one. This one just caught my eye and the price was fair.
I'm going to take it to the local show this weekend. Their is a guy there that has helped me with attributions in the past, I'm going to give this one a try and see what it is.
If you don't have a book to attribute the Fugios this link should be very helpful http://www.numissociety.com/showthread.php?2034-Fugio-Identification-Guide If the link doesn't post drop me a PM with your email and I'll send it to you
A type 19 has two possible reverse options type M or SS. THis one is difficult as the corrosion has taken away a lot of the detail on the We Are One. I feel confident but not absolute that it is a type SS reverse. So I have a type 19 SS no idea what that means in the world of fugios, but it was fun to look at all of the options on that link. thanks
The same forum has a rarity listing for the fugios as well. http://www.numissociety.com/showthread.php?682-Fugio-Rarity-Guide The 19 SS pairing is listed as an R-5
