I wanted to share my Mexican peso set. The series with this design ran from 1918 to 1945, but many years did not have any coins made. 1918 and 1919 were .800 silver and the rest were .720. I love this coin design and I usually try to buy them whenever I find them at my LCS. I've managed to get most of them in pretty nice condition but I'd still like to upgrade a few at some point if the right deal came along. This is the full date set.
Very nice there Sir! I didn't realize these were made in all those years in the '20s. Do keep upgrading and keep us posted. Only slightly related I got an Peso in MS67 for my birth year: 1957. It has stunning lustre....
My 1957 is probably my worst in the series. I'd like to upgrade but don't want to pay eBay prices so I'm hoping to find one in the wild.
I couldn’t be bothered to take it from the 2x2. I like train stuff and this piece caught my eye at Club show
Umm, nice but strayed from the OP just a bit there.... Anyway, back to the OP - I have noticed some really nice graded pesos of this vintage to come up recently....
"Say, Mister. Will you stake a fellow American to a meal?" Success! One like it: Mexico peso 1924 Silver, 34 mm, 16.68 gm
My mistake, I meant to post this in the new acquisition thread. All apologies to the OP. Maybe @lordmarcovan can move it for me?
It’s very cool! Great set you got up there, how much time did you have into gathering it all up? (Apologies again for the mis-post up above. I had the wrong thread.)
I focused on building my Mexican set for maybe five years. It wasn't the only thing I was working on but was a main area of focus. Not just pesos but all coins. Then over the years as I would see a chance to upgrade I'll replace one here or there.
Really great to have a focus and exactly how I started more years ago than I care to relate! You GO!!
