They tagged my card today ($4.95). I don't have any outstanding orders or subscriptions at the moment so this must be it! Hopefully in the next few days we'll see some movement on these baby's.........

I sure hope so....At the very least they better send your tote bag! :)
I thought my order was placed fairly early and the Silver Dollars seem to be a slower seller anyway, but they keep postponing my ship date. Interesting.....this could be a nail biter!

  4. The $4.95 is shipping for the free bag, which will be at your door very soon. The gold will say no shipping whenever that arrives. Again, thanks to the mint the customer is left holding the bag...lol

Oh dear..........now they've snookered me twice. The first time they tagged the card was for a proof set subscription which I had forgotten about, and now this? Rats!

Looks like even numbers they pulled out of their hat, unless the bigs guys bought them all.

  7. I did not even think of that and really hope that is not the case.

There are two $4.95 charges on my check card today. I submitted two orders on Thursday, but only one qualified for the free bag. So maybe they are going to ship some of my coins soon, too. At least I hope that I'm not just left holding the bag. LOL

My order shows the bag has been shipped too. YAHOO!

The bag is funny gift. Does the Mint think we want to advertise to the world that we shop at the US Mint, and have silver and gold coins?
I feel that the bag is almost like a sign that says: "I have things that you want to rob. "
What will you do with your bags?
The bags look like they have a plastic coating so I'm not sure it's safe to store silver or gold coins in them?

Just shows how out of touch the mint is with its customers - nothing we didn't already know.

Of course, to a government worker, that bag is a substantial perk, it’s what they get. It’s not like the private sector that gives their employees gold Rolexes.

I too am curious to see what everyone will be doing with these bags. I have 2 coming! Any suggestions? Don't want to put coins in them.....and it sure doesn't seem safe to go shopping with them!

I can already tell you what some are doing with them, voting to tell the Mint they don't want these cheap plastic marketing gimmicks, by line item canceling the bags before they ship.

Anyone ever seen an order that requires additional address verification? That was the message in their automated phone recording for my order status.

Ask me about holding real physical precious metals in an IRA or HSA plan.

Just guessing, but maybe your shipping & billing address aren't the same. Or, maybe it's just the mint.

Well, I'm not going to line cancel the bag. When it gets here I'll just give it to the wife to use during her forays into JoAnn Fabrics. Those Lady's ain't gots no clue.......:)

But the crooks following home that public display (and free use of you personal space for Mint advertising) of where coins may reside, will have a clue.

The most appropriate action I can think of.......

    Burn BABY, BURN!

  19. Easy solution: buy some black felt from the fabric store, break out the staple gun and cover or distort the mint emblem...now you are good to go. :)

Oh good, I'm not the only "sucker" that just paid $4.95 for a cheap bag!
