What are your favorite coins to collect and why? What particular coins would you like to add to your collection but can't find or afford?

My personal all time favorite is the Morgan Silver dollar I have been fascinated with them since I was a young lad.
As for coins I'd like to add to my collection I'd have a bunch more $20 Double Eagles. I love the design on that coin!

Halves. Great variety, selection(number of), and large denomination for great design detail.

Yeah half dollars are some of the best coins ever made the challenge is finding them in a condition that displays its beauty.

sorry I forgot to add those. you have to have some serious money to have a flowing hair dollar.

Edit: Apparently I can't edit a poll after it has been posted. just let it be known that that section is all dollar coins in the US

so far the 1 cent peices have the most votes. For all of you that admire the penny share with us what your favorite penny is. Be it a wheat cent or a large cent. if you are feeling brave let us know what coins you wish you had in your collections as well.

As a penny collector myself I wish I could find some of the earlier large cents in good condition.

Large cents were my first love surpassed only as I got older and could afford the early dollars I love the 1793-1807 ones the best favorite design of them is the liberty cap I really want a chain and a 1793 liberty cap and would like to upgrade my wreath too I also lack 1799 and 1804 is a challenging but wonderful series :)

Jefferson Nickels. Put together almost a complete set of circulation Jeffersons just from pocket change. Started back in the early 70's. I've had to buy maybe 8 coins to finish it.

What dates did you have to buy?

    If I recall...
    38-D,S
    39-D
    42-S
    43-D
    50-P
    50-D
    55-P
    58-P
    60-P

Looks like 10, not 8. 39-D and 50-D because they were key dates, the rest because I just got to the point I wasn't finding any in change any more and just wanted to get it over with! :D

I would be willing to wager he had to buy a 1950-D which were hoarded in mint state and are tough to find in circulation.

This has proven to be a very interesting thread but I must sign off now and get some sleep. Will the votes for the dollar exceed those of the pennies??? stay tuned!

The bulk of my collection centers around shiny big silver dollars; however, I'm learning about CBH's and want to venture down that road later this year. I'll still always be a sucker for Morgan's and Peace Dollars though. I think they are two great designs.

Is it graded and did they call it adjustment marks or damage? I have one similar that got body bagged for "damage". Yours looks better BTW.
