Problem is, the cost savings is for ink only. Maybe the government would save even more if they switched to laser printers, which have a far lower cost per page printing cost (unless something in ink jet technology has changed recently to change that and I'm not aware of it).

I think the main reason they're resistant to that is it would make currency too easy to counterfeit.

Laser printers do not have the ability to reproduce the fine detailed engraving. Plus, toner comes off SO easy...

I didn't think they were talking about currency printing... they're not going to change that process. I thought they were talking about regular office use, like memos, manuals, general printing like that. The savings comes from switching to a "thinner" font which uses less ink.

Bingo, no one mentioned anything about 'specialty' items. The kid was just talking about general purpose printing.

Also, he was saying even us 'normal' people could save money this way, especially if you are in a business that needs lots of printouts.

Now I see why my HP laser printer wouldn't let me print those $100 bills! LMAO :-O

It's a shame the "clever kids" are becoming a dying breed, especially since Columbine inspired teachers and other paraprofessionals to try to shut children up because, in their opinion, teens are stupid brutes whose only goal is to instigate another school shooting. This in my opinion is a load of BS.
